Los Angeles County passed the milestone of 15,000 COVID-19 deaths Saturday with more than a third of those deaths coming since Christmas. Meanwhile hospitalizations continue falling and new cases remain fairly stable.
County health officials announced 269 more COVID-related deaths on Saturday, the fourth day in a row with more than 250 deaths. The county’s cumulative death toll is now 15,162 people.
The highest number of deaths in a single day was 318 deaths, which was recorded on Jan. 8.
There are 6,881 people hospitalized with COVID-19 in Los Angeles County on Saturday. That’s 193 fewer people than were hospitalized on Friday when there were 7,073 people hospitalized.
The county’s all-time high for COVID hospitalizations occurred on Jan. 7, when there were 8,098 people hospitalized.
Some 24% of those hospitalized are in the ICU, approximately 1,700 people.
LA County reported 10,537 new COVID-19 cases on Saturday. The county now has a cumulative total of 1,064,887 cases since the pandemic began in March.
To date, more than 5.355 million people have been tested for the coronavirus since the pandemic began. Of those tested, an overall average of 19% are testing positive.
West Hollywood recorded 13 new cases for a cumulative total of 1,835 cases since the pandemic began. The city had no new deaths; the cumulative death total is 23 deaths.

- Beverly Hills – 13 new cases for a total of 2,140 cases and no new deaths for a total of 21 deaths.
- Carthay neighborhood – 7 new cases for a total of 801 cases and 4 new deaths for a total of 40 deaths.
- Culver City – 27 new cases for a total of 1,818 cases and 1 new death for a total of 65 deaths.
- Hollywood – 44 new cases for a total of 4,513 cases and 3 new deaths for a total of 46 deaths.
- Melrose neighborhood – 86 new cases total of 6,881 cases and 2 new deaths for a total of 152 deaths.
- Miracle Mile – 8 new cases for a total of 760 cases and no new deaths for a total of 9 deaths.
- Park La Brea – 5 new cases for a total of 483 cases and no new deaths for a total of 1 death.
- Santa Monica – 47 new cases for a total of 3,756 cases and 1 new death for a total of 107 deaths.
The Carthay neighborhood incorporates the areas of Los Angeles between the Beverly Hills city limits and Fairfax Avenue, with Beverly Boulevard as the northern border and Wilshire Boulevard as the southern border.
The Melrose neighborhood incorporates the areas of Los Angeles east of La Cienega and west of Vermont Avenue, between Santa Monica Boulevard on the north and Beverly Boulevard on the south.
