West Hollywood crossed the 2,000 cumulative COVID cases threshold on Sunday, meaning that one in every 18 ½ people have been infected with the coronavirus. Meanwhile, LA County crossed the 18,000 deaths milestone on Sunday as well.
West Hollywood has a population of 37,000 people. With over 2,000 of those people having tested positive, that translates to one in every 18.5 residents having been infected at some point since the pandemic began.
That’s not to say that over 2,000 people in WeHo are currently infected and can transmit the virus, but it does indicated how widespread the virus has become.
West Hollywood recorded 10 new cases on Sunday for a cumulative total of 2,003 cases since the pandemic began. The city had no new deaths; the cumulative death total is 25 deaths.
County health officials announced 89 more COVID-related deaths on Sunday. The county’s cumulative death toll is now 18,044 people.
The highest number of COVID deaths in a single day in the county is 318 deaths, recorded on Jan. 8, while the second highest is 316 deaths, which occurred on Jan. 30.
There are 4,421 people hospitalized with COVID-19 in Los Angeles County on Sunday. That’s 186 fewer people than were hospitalized on Saturday when there were 4,607 people hospitalized.
The county’s all-time high for COVID hospitalizations occurred on Jan. 7, when there were 8,098 people hospitalized.
There are approximately 1,170 people in the ICU.
LA County reported 3,123 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday. The county now has a cumulative total of 1,146,450 cases since the pandemic began in March.
To date, more than 5.6 million people have been tested for the coronavirus since the pandemic began. Of those tested, an overall average of 19% are testing positive.

- Beverly Hills – 6 new cases for a total of 2,314 cases and a total of 24 deaths.
- Carthay neighborhood – no new cases for a total of 845 cases and a total of 48 deaths.
- Century City – no new cases for a total of 541 cases and a total of 11 deaths.
- Culver City –6 new cases for a total of 1,974 cases and a total of 71 deaths.
- Hollywood – 14 new cases for a total of 4,933 cases and a total of 53 deaths.
- Melrose neighborhood – 18 new cases total of 7,442 cases and a total of 170 deaths.
- Miracle Mile – 7 new cases for a total of 840 cases and a total of 14 deaths.
- Park La Brea – 1 new case for a total of 528 cases and a total of 1 death.
- Santa Monica – 18 new cases for a total of 4,048 cases and a total of 124 deaths.
The Carthay neighborhood incorporates the areas of Los Angeles between the Beverly Hills city limits and Fairfax Avenue, with Beverly Boulevard as the northern border and Wilshire Boulevard as the southern border.
The Melrose neighborhood incorporates the areas of Los Angeles east of La Cienega and west of Vermont Avenue, between Santa Monica Boulevard on the north and Beverly Boulevard on the south.
