UPDATE: Other media outlets have reported the victim and the suspects left a rooftop restaurant in the Melrose/La Cienega area, however the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department homicide division would not confirm that to WEHOville. The homicide detectives took charge of the investigation and the West Hollywood station is no longer involved.
A man was beaten to death in West Hollywood Friday morning, and the suspects were on the loose, police said.
Deputies responded about 12:30 a.m. to the 8500 block of Melrose Avenue, near La Cienega Boulevard, and found the man, who was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Deputy Eric Ortiz of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Detectives said the victim and a man and woman got into an argument shortly after leaving a bar in the area.
“It looks like our victim fell to the ground and then was possibly stomped or kicked repeatedly in the head,” sheriff’s Lt. Derrick Alfred told ABC7.
The man and woman ran from the location and were being sought by authorities.
The victim’s age and name were not immediately available.
The intersection of Melrose Avenue and La Cienega Boulevard is closed until further notice.
