Detectives have arrested two suspects in a series of Westside armed robberies targeting people wearing expensive watches, primarily Rolexes, authorities said Friday.
The suspects were taken into custody on Thursday by detectives from the Wilshire and Pacific areas, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
“Please be advised, detectives are not … releasing the names of the suspects at this time,” the LAPD said in a statement. “Further disclosure could compromise their investigation.”
The robberies occurred across the Westside, including in West Hollywood, the Melrose Avenue shopping district, Beverly Hills, Culver City, Mar Vista, Venice and Mid-Wilshire.
“Detectives have recognized a pattern of armed robberies occurring in the west side of Los Angeles,” police said. “The suspects target individuals wearing high-end watches, primarily Rolex watches.”
Detectives believe that the suspects are part of an organized crew responsible for committing the series of robberies. One Rolex watch was recovered and returned to its owner, police said.
“Detectives continue to actively pursue multiple leads in an effort to apprehend additional suspects,” police said.
Anyone with information about the case was urged to call detectives at 213-922-8266; 877-LAPD-247; or Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS.
