“Schitt’s Creek” has been honored as the outstanding comedy series for the second consecutive year at the 32nd annual GLAAD Media Awards.
The awards, presented in a virtual format in a ceremony hosted by Niecy Nash Thursday night, recognized material that was published, released or broadcast
between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31, 2020.
The other nominees for best comedy series were “Big Mouth,” “Dead
To Me,” “Everything’s Gonna Be Okay,” “Harley Quinn,” “Love, Victor,”
“Saved by the Bell,” “Sex Education,””Superstore” and “Twenties.”
“Star Trek: Discovery” won for best drama series, beating out “9-1-1: Lone Star,” “Killing Eve,”‘P-Valley,” “Ratched,” “Supergirl,’ “The Umbrella Academy,” “Vida,””The Wilds” and “Wynonna Earp.”
“Happiest Season” won for best wide-release film. The other nominees
were “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom,” “The Prom,” “The Craft: Legacy,” and
‘The Old Guard.”
GLAAD presented special honors during the ceremony to media projects
that spotlighted diverse segments of the LGBTQ community in innovative ways. It also presented the Barbara Gittings Award for Excellence in LGBTQ Media to the Windy City Times, a pioneering LGBTQ publication started in Chicago in 1985.
