Comments are back on.

The comment section has been updated and your positive input is welcome.

Last week the comment section of this journal was turned off for 5 days due to an overwhelming amount of rude and hateful comments directed toward myself and one city council member who was the subject of last weeks article’s.

Letters to the editor and op-eds are always welcome. Your comments need to be on point and to the subject matter. Remember there is somebody on this end who must read and approve those comments. And it is draining to read such hateful rhetoric.

Advertisers have requested we remove the comment section, so it’s up to you to provide concrete, cohesive thoughts in a concise manner. This is not a troll farm for couch potatoes. Your comments should be limited to one or two paragraphs maximum. Nonsense thoughts like “oh yeah…” will not be posted. Please stay on the topic.

Last week one commenter called my phone close to midnight. They were screaming on the phone that their comment did not post. I was just trying to sleep after a long day.

While we took possession of this site on April 1, the sale did not complete and close until April 15… just a few days ago.

In those two weeks WEHOville got the scoop that Mayor Horvath was planning her announcement that she was running for County Supervisor.

John Heilman shared his epic Op-Ed looking back over 36 years of West Hollywood history and how we have grown up.

Jerome Cleary’s Op-Ed “the Urban Blight of the Sunset Spectacular” attracted CBS News and Orange Barrel Media committed to working closer with residents.

And Manny Rodriguez presented his case against the closure of Robertson Blvd in his first opinion piece that attracted multiple stories and news organizations.

The transition has not been smooth but we are moving forward. Every day is a small step forward to clean up the mess that was left behind. One day I hope to share the real story behind keeping WEHOville alive.

As we move forward, WEHOville will be shifting away from traditional news coverage and repositioning our platform to serve as a local publication focusing on stories that spotlight emerging small businesses, historical community achievements, breaking news, local people and points of discussion, community events, as well as hotel, restaurant, and nightlife guides.

We would love for you to be a part of the brand-new team of West Hollywood professionals running WEHOville. We are currently looking to hire editors and writers who have a passion for the exceptional qualities that make up West Hollywood. Please e-mail your resume to  info@WEHOville.com

We are greatly looking forward to using this platform to celebrate the uniqueness of our community.

Thank you from the new WEHOville team.

Great to see comments back! I am still baffled that an informative and possibly controversial opinion piece on COVID restrictions suddenly ended with an unnecessary reference to HIV and oral sex. Maybe it’s just me. Peace!

Larry, thank you for doing that. Please consider resurrecting comments for older articles. I’ve looked at some older articles, and none seem to have any comments. Yes, there were some nasty comments and vitriol, but more-so, important discussions about issues from our past.

This site has years of legacy, and it would be a shame to not see these discussions.

Please, you have to cover City Hall stories along with news for West Hollywood. Especially with the three council people putting their own WOKE agendas across at every meeting. Literally, the three of them are like busy Bodies putting their nose in everybody’s business. And what is their background and experience to dictate how we live? Otherwise we soon could wake up one morning without a police force. Good to see the comments back. Supports freedom of speech.

Do you intend to cover City Hall? As the health and progress of this country depends on all people participating in countering the threat of the pandemic, and the updates were critical to see how we – as a city – were doing, please consider bringing back the COVID-19, news. Since you told me that the story was not local, how about posting just the WeHo stats? Mr Duran doesn’t give all the data that used to be available here. Don’t print fluff pieces. We are smarter than that. Don’t con us. Try not to lie. A newspaper editor needs… Read more »

So (and don’t take this personally and shut everyone’s opinions down again, Larry) basically we’re going from journalism to marketing. Crucial information for WeHo citizens about serious issues such as crime and city hall shenanigans gone forever and replaced by advertorials and fluff pieces? Sad. Truly sad.

I, like you, am also concerned.

We hope people do the right thing.

If it does, we should/could be stronger because of it.
If it doesn’t work out, somebody can compete.

I also miss James and hope that he is just on a vacation after all of his hard work.

I do think some of the comments can be mean and over the top, but honestly I often enjoy them more than the stories. I did find myself visiting the site less because the weren’t any comments.

While we may not want or need to know the lurid details of the story can you state exactly what is the “mess that was left behind”?

Will James Mills return from exile?

In the article I found the comment regarding the mess left behind in itself was unkind..

That quote came directly from the article by Mr. Block himself. I have no horse in this race.
