The excitement was in the air in front of Trunks as construction began on their “outzone” — curbside space repurposed as outdoor drinking and dining — with an expected opening in mid-May.
The word on the street is that Motherlode will also re-open as early as May 14th.
Micky’s is also getting ready to open by June 1, owner Michael Niemeyer confirmed. When Micky’s was forced to close in mid-March 2019, they were in the process of celebrating their 30th anniversary. Two weeks ago Micky’s manager Adam Emarian went to the location. A homeless encampment in the alley blocked the entrance and sheriff assistance was needed to remove the ‘living room’ in front of the back entrance.
The re-grand opening will be Micky’s third — the first Grand Opening in 1990, the second in 2008 after a fire damaged the building and forced a closure for almost two years. The new Micky’s is also planning a full lunch menu with a new restaurant partner and will be open daily at noon.
Revolver has also been closed for over a year. While owner Chris Miller would not confirm an opening date, the city of West Hollywood has begun the process of setting up the Revolver outzone along Larrabee St. Tara Worden, who is the head of the City of West Hollywood Outzone program, said that she has been working with the Revolver team on their re-opening plans.
When Trunks, Motherlode, Micky’s and Revolver re-open, West Hollywood will be fully operational for all of the businesses that were forced to close due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
In addition, the Flaming Saddles location will re-open under new ownership, adding a cannabis component in that venue. Gym Bar is also under construction at the former Halal Guys location at the corner of Santa Monica Blvd. and Hilldale, and ‘Stache will open at the former Cafe De’Toile location.
Things will be buzzing just in time for WeHo Pride on June 26-27 and the summer season ahead.

Oh yes! I’m 71 years old so I even remember “The Farm” on Santa Monica Blvd. when it was illegal for two men to even dance together.,,, Also the Spike, Gold Coast, Bitter End West, and others. I used to play 3 tambourines at once every night at Studio One when they first opened for several years. There was a waiter there named Bobby who danced with these huge fans. There are no gay bars left in Westhollywood. Gay friendly yes but gay bars no. Good luck with your new Sunset Blvd. not a gay safe place anymore. Sell out to developers.

Gold Coast is gone for good and will never reopen. You can thank greedy Monty Overstreet for the fiasco that is now West Hollywood. His grimy, greedy paws are all over the closings of many establishments.
Also to mention Oil Can Harry’s in the San Fernando Valley fell to Monty Overstreet’s greed

I was very happy to hear that Trunks and Mother Lode have survived this past year. I went into the newly opened Trunks and saw some of the former regulars. Unfortunately, service was already horrible with the afternoon bartender playing a video game at the dark end of the bar. Sadly, I had to ask the doorman if I could get service. I went to Palm Springs in 2016, and I didn’t find the bars or nightclubs vibrant or bustling at all. In fact, they were dead and boring compared with those in West Hollywood. And I doubt that they would be any better now.
I lived in WEHO for 20 years and thought it’s very exclusive and not very inclusive and very pretentious. If that is what paving the way for the LGBTQ is then o want no part of it.
I have to disagree with you about Palm Springs. I live in both L.A. and Palm Springs. A nicer group of customers and employees would be hard to find at Chill. Since 2016, Cathedral City has opened a bar that is lively and filled w fun customers. The owner and the employees are very accommodating. In Palm Springs, the deadbeat bar Score is gone and it is now 501 bar. Please do not disparage Palm Springs if you have not been there since 2016.
I believe it’s much about one’s attitude, and being courteous to the bartenders, and other staff. It also helps to tip decently too!
As a resident who lives on Larrabee Street, I’m concerned about the creation of an out zone for Revolver on Larrabee, especially from a noise standpoint. I certainly hope the city is not going to permit speakers to be placed outside as this will most certainly impact the quality of life of the individuals who live adjacent to the outdone.
I’m pretty sure Mickey’s closed in mid March 2020 not 2019.
Has anyone heard anything about Basix or Marix? Seems rather quiet now that things are starting to reopen.
Heard the lesbian couple that owns both are getting a divorce and Marix and Basix could be closed for good. Hoping not.
I heard they sold Basix (so disappointed) but kept Marix.
It is nice to have a break from this.
