A popular Thai eatery in Hollywood is expanding its footprint into WeHo.
The former Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf space at 7835 Santa Monica Blvd. will soon be home to Crispy Pork Gang, a modern Thai kitchen established in 2017. The new diner will be its second location.
While West Hollywood has plenty of great spots for burgers and pizza, there aren’t as many options for traditional Asian cuisine.
Construction is currently under way, though no opening date has been announced.
Good luck to the new restaurant! I used to go to that Coffee Bean the last year it was open and I was saddened when they closed rather abruptly. It had the best ambience I’ve come across at a chain coffee house, very cozy and relaxing vibe.
Ew. Crispy Pork Gang??? Yuck. Why not something that is inclusive to the many vegan and vegetarian members of our community? Cause there’s like none. I miss Coffee Bean!

It is a reference to being vegan, and not eating pork. Why did this thread need to turn into an argument about that? It is a personal choice for everyone, and trying to “convince” people to be vegan is a losing battle, in that manner. If anything, you are pushing them away. Laura, your enormous variety of vegan establishments and options, are listed in my comment below.
None? Seriously? Come on! One of my good friends is vegan, and can attest to the fact that Los Angeles is one of *the* most vegan-friendly cities in the nation, if not the world. You have Tocaya, on Sunset, Gracias Madre, Crossroads, Pura Vita Pizzeria, Fresh on Sunset, The Outdoors Cafe, Sugar Taco, Tu Madre, Real Food Daily, M Café and Kinari on Fairfax, which offers vegan ramen. Apparently the owners had or have another location in town. Why not put on your friendly self and welcome them? Folks love Thai food, if you don’t you can go elsewhere. Why be so nasty to the owners ?

Please consider quarantining your device. The folks on this thread may be offended but the thing you may also consider is going to the new restaurant and apologizing to the owners for being such an offensive idiot. I’m sure they would graciously accept your apology and please take Mr. Cleary with you to chime in.
I think instead of calling their restaurant: “Crispy Pork Gang” they should change it to: “Crispy Pork Gang Bang” to reflect the neighborhood…LOL!

Looks like the sunset street number would be more correct for Santa Monica Blvd since the 7800 block would east of La Cienega.

Yes, on Hollywood Blvd, right in the middle of Thai Town. Next to Ruen Pair, in the plaza next to the big Thai market. I lived in Los Feliz, just outside of Thai Town, for about a year and a half. I visited most of the restaurants, with this one as an exception. Genghis Coen on Fairfax is pretty damn good. A little pricey.

SO many choices for coffee in West Hollywood. Probably more than ever before in history.
I should note that when I speak of West Hollywood I’m taking my little section of West Hollywood. Walkable. Like La Cienega to Robertson. But more and more Starbucks are popping up, some in what used to be very busy Coffee Bean locations (like Sunset and Fairfax).
Well, Monte Overstreet was the landlord at the neighboring Gym Bar, so I assume he owns the entire complex. If so, maybe that has something to do with it.
Monte is not the owner of that property but he is the owner of the new location where Gym Bar is moving at the old Halal Guys.
That’s right. I had them mixed up. But Gym Bar’s landlords were not very easy to work with, I understand. Whoever they are. That might have something to do with the Coffee Bean shutting down.
