The City of West Hollywood has added a Special Hybrid City Council meeting – with limited-capacity in-person attendance at the City’s Council Chambers/Public Meeting Room as well as participation by virtual teleconference format – to its July meeting schedule on Wednesday, July 21, 2021.
Moving forward from this date, the City plans to conduct all City Council meetings as hybrid meetings. The City will monitor Los Angeles County Department of Public Health and California Department of Public Health COVID-19 safety guidelines and may make adjustments, as needed, to ensure compliance with health orders and to maintain the highest regard for community health and safety.
On Monday, July 19 at 6 p.m., a Regular Teleconference City Council Meeting will take place in a virtual format via Zoom. Details about this meeting, including a link to the Council Agenda, are posted on the City Calendar at www.weho.org/Home/Components/Calendar/Event/22865/15. The meeting agenda contains specific information about how to view the meeting, how to provide written correspondence or e-comments, and how to provide public comment by phone.
On Wednesday, July 21 at 6 p.m., the Special Hybrid City Council Meeting will take place with options for limited in-person participation or participation by virtual teleconference format via Zoom. The meeting will take place at the City’s Council Chambers/Public Meeting Room, located at 625 N. San Vicente Boulevard. Details about this meeting, including a link to the Council Agenda, are posted on the City Calendar at www.weho.org/Home/Components/Calendar/Event/23889/15. The meeting agenda contains specific information about how to view the meeting, how to provide written correspondence or e-comments, and how to provide public comment by phone or in-person.
For community members who wish to attend the Special Hybrid City Council Meeting in-person at the City’s Council Chambers/Public Meeting Room, attendance will be welcomed on a limited-capacity basis to protect health and safety; validated parking will be available in the adjacent five-story West Hollywood Park structure. Face coverings must be worn and temperature checks will be required. To maintain capacity limits of in-person attendees, RSVP is required for in-person participation at the July 21 meeting at https://wehocomms.typeform.com/to/XsqNJb9D.
Once a maximum number of meeting attendees has been reached in the Council Chambers/Public Meeting Room, community members who wish to provide public comment will be invited into the meeting room by on-site staff to provide public comment, but then must exit the Council Chambers to continue watching or listening to the meeting via virtual teleconference format.
All community members may view City Council meetings by livestream by visiting the City’s website at www.weho.org/wehotv. City Council meetings are also livestreamed as a courtesy on the City’s YouTube channel; on streaming services such as AndroidTV, AppleTV, FireTV, and Roku; and through broadcast on Spectrum Channel 10 in the City of West Hollywood.
Members of the public wishing to provide public comment on City Council meeting agenda items are encouraged to do so in the following ways:
- To participate by providing an e-Comment: Members of the public who wish to comment on matters before the City Council are strongly encouraged to submit an e-Comment using an online form at www.weho.org/councilagendas. e-Comments received by 2 p.m. of the day of each meeting will be forwarded to the City Council and posted on the City’s website as part of the official meeting record.
- To participate by phone: Members of the public are encouraged to email Melissa Crowder, City of West Hollywood City Clerk, at [email protected] in advance of the City Council meeting to which you wish to be added to the public speaker list. Please include your name, the phone number from which you will be calling, and which item you would like to speak on. Dial-in instructions for each meeting will be provided in the Council Agenda for that meeting, posted at www.weho.org/councilagendas. Comments from members of the public are limited to two minutes per speaker.
The City of West Hollywood remains in a declared local emergency in response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. West Hollywood City Hall and many public City buildings and facilities have been shut to in-person transactions as services were transitioned to a virtual environment to safeguard community health and safety. The City of West Hollywood is implementing plans to reopen in-person services at City Hall in late July 2021; details will be forthcoming on the City’s website www.weho.org. RSVP?? To a city council meeting?? They are limited access to a public meeting that is a government function,not a party.
How are residents going to participate if they will be outside? Are there going to be TV screens showing the council meeting outside the meeting room? Hiding from your public is not a good look.
There is a TV screen (with sound) in the lobby located on the wall to the right as you face the entrance to the Chamber. It’s been there for years.
If interior dining and bar service can open fully, so can the city council. Come out from hiding and face your ever increasingly displeased public.
