Road improvements coming to WeHo’s Eastside

Richard Garland with WeHo’s Public Works/Engineering Division gave residents an update on several projects in the works this week.

The LED streetlight project is finished, replacing all high-pressure sodium street lights and cutting electricity consumption by 50 percent.

New roadway warning lights — the strings of flashing yellow lights used to cross streets — are beings installed at crosswalks on Santa Monica Blvd.’s intersections with Greenacre Ave. and Poinsettia Place.

New traffic signals will be installed on Santa Monica Blvd. at Fire Station No. 8 which is at Spaulding Ave. and on Fountain Ave. at Buena Place.

Improvements are being planned for the intersection of Fountain and Gardner by installing left turn arrows on the traffic signal and providing left turn lanes on Gardner.

A median will be installed on Fountain Ave. at the Curson intersection to prevent left turns at that intersection and thereby improve traffic safety.

The colored globes that adorn the west side of Santa Monica Blvd. are coming to the Eastside, too, from La Vista to La Brea.

I don’t see anything AT ALL about the re-surfacing/re-grading of the continual crumbling away of Fairfax through Santa Monica and Beverly. This road just gets worse and worse to where it is now beyond “3rd world conditions”. That and the other crumbling roads. I am also a bike rider, and many of these road are very dangerous for bike riders. Is Richard Garland the same asshat that keeps putting those damned rubber ramps all over town?

Most of that stretch is actually city of Los Angeles. I agree with you about it needing resurfacing 100%.

Thank you Richard Garland for the LED streetlight upgrade! No more dark and dirty orange streetlights in WEHO. Hope this helps in reducing crime.

The multi-colored overhead globes are awesome! And I’m thrilled about the street improvements.

They are great for a nightlife district IMO. I had a friend just visit from out of town and she loved them!
