Elyse Eisenberg, WeHo Heights Neighborhood Association Chairperson and a Business License Commissioner, has put together a series of surveys requesting community feedback on the pending 8850 Sunset Blvd. / Viper Room project.  These comments will be submitted to Doug Vu for inclusion as part of the public response to the DEIR (Draft Environmental Report) which is due by Nov. 5.  This project is expected to be presented to the City Council in February.

This is the first in a series of surveys on the 8850 Sunset Blvd. / Viper Room Project which will give the community an opportunity to weigh in on different aspects of the project.

This First Survey is looking for feedback on the project’s Height and Design elements.

The link to the survey is here – https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/8850Sunset-Survey1

This survey will be open until November 1, 2021 but we will be submitting responses received to date to the Planning Commission in advance of that meeting on October 21 so please try to respond before then.

Please feel free to forward the survey to any of your neighbors, friends and fellow employees who you think might want to participate.

There are two upcoming Zoom hearings prior to that where people can also participate.

I say build it, the city could make a fortune off of renting it out for the next Blockbuster Disaster Movie. They have a set already built, Studio would save a fortune.

Build it! Very cool. Tired of great projects being proposed but bogged down in politics and not built.

We are turning sunset strip into Las Vegas Strip. The neighbor will become tasteless, impersonal destination as they have done with Hollywood Blvd and the Chinese theater.
This will be the end of sunset strip as families will move out

L O V E love love love it!
It is daring, futuristic, exciting. This is the kind of exciting architecture that says “our eye is on now and the future”. It will instantly become an iconic landmark.

It doesn’t fit the style, mood, or nostalgic charm of the Sunset Strip; rather, it serves to diminish all of that and/or obscure the views for neighboring buildings. The architect should bring this building to Las Vegas or Atlantic City where it fits amongst the pre-established steel and concrete erection contest.

Has anyone considered the fact that this architect has made his career by designing courthouses and justice centers? In other words, he has profited from incarcerating people, most of whom are people of color? This is out of touch, I’m all for progressive architecture, but by architects with ethics. How about an architect that isn’t white, male and heterosexual?

Meeting the architect would tell you everything in a nutshell.

“I’m looking for something that produces a likeness to the idiosyncrasy of the individual, an unpredictable element of human behavior.”
Thom Mayne

Fits right in with legions of folks in WeHo who think the confirmation of that element will lead to harmony of self and community.

What a racist comment, assuming people “of color” didn’t actually commit a crime in these cases. Crime is up everywhere and every race is vulnerable to these generalizations pushed by divide and conquer media. WeHo has become the most unfriendly, bizarre city and this building matches its bonkers mindset. I’ve been here 25 years and it gets worse every year due to political nonsense. Our city was almost destroyed from BLM vandalism; every life matters and anyone who doesn’t see that has bought the divide and conquer agenda turning America into a dangerous place where businesses and people can barely… Read more »

So, let’s be bigoted against someone just because of how they were born. Yes, that sounds as about as ignorant as a misogynist and racist as someone can get.

My comment:

“It is not anything resembling that firm’s best work. The whole thing is ridiculously out of scale and amateurish with the one tower leaning like a drunk on the other. Cute as a metaphor for the neighborhood but I don’t think the message they were meaning to send.”

As I said earlier…a pastiche. A lazy late career money grab from an individual with a contrarian point of view.

Wow love the building even more and despise my street with garbage trucks, old trees destroying the sewage because some one thought ficus is safe, dangerous wiring of telephone poles, old garages and god I wanna live in a new building again.
