WeHo rallies to protest Texas anti-abortion law on Saturday

Mayor Lauren Meister invites the public to stand up against a new Texas law that limits a woman’s right to choose by protesting at a rally Saturday morning.

“We’re not going back in time to back alleys and coat hangers,” the invitation reads. The new restrictions prohibit abortions as soon as a heartbeat is detected, often around six weeks after conception.

The event begins at 10 a.m. at West Hollywood Park, 647 N. San Vicente, between Santa Monica Blvd. and Melrose Ave.

For more information, contact Mayor Meister at lauren@meister4weho.com or 310-801-9839.

Roe V Wade is an important precedent for affirm g every person’s right to privacy from the government regarding medical procedures. I wonder what else that applies to..
Lauren “unvaxxed not welcome” Meister and the rest of them have little standing on affirming bodily autonomy.

Roe: as in egg

Versus

Wade, as in penetrate

People dont pay attention to the psychological and cultural manipulations perpetrated on them.

They have their blue or red quarter inserted in their little slot and out comes the blah blah blah, preprogrammed ‘opinions’.

Because you know if trump was in the White House California would be a bastion of antivax sentiment, and there’d be rallies against medical apartheid health passes being forced on Texans and Floridians

The Weho rally provides an alternative to downtown for our residents. This is a 2-hour rally (not a march shutting down streets). Please note, for many, this issue is bigger than Texas.

Yes, this issue is much bigger than Texas. These states pass these laws knowing that they will head to the Supreme Court where a reversal of Roe v. Wade will impact the entire country. See you at the rally in support of and in solidarity with my sisters everywhere.

What I don’t understand is that the former and current Women City Council members claim to fight for the equality of Women’s rights and yet West Hollywood has at least two totally nude strip clubs where Women are objectified daily. West Hollywood has a rich history of throwing bricks from their glass house. Nothing said or done by the current and former City Council members about Women’s equality can be taking seriously as long as the City continues to oppress Women by being the home of strip clubs where Women dance naked for men and for money. West Hollywood is… Read more »

More unnecessary street disruption on an issue barely relevant to WeHo. Do you think Texas cares?

It also allows any unaffected individual to sue a patient or clinic for $10,000.

Absolutely insane.

Sorta like giving the Key to the City to a woman that’s a porno queen that has a now convicted felon attorney huh? Oh that’s right, they’re liberal flakes also so they’re perfect. Now go away Nancy

Um, not sure why you think I agree with that whole circus. Thankfully, the councilmember who spearheaded that stupid event is out of office 🙂

For the record, Council members Heilman, Meiser & Horvath boycotted that event. But I agree that giving the key to the City to Stormy Daniels and honoring her felonious attorney was a real black mark on the City. The City Manager should have vetoed the event.

Maybe they should post snarky comments online while living in a community they hate instead. So much more effective and would make them feel superior

This is a national march – a call to action. Expand your horizons a little, Mr Shipey.

More smart diplomacy and less marching in the streets. When everyone is perpetually marching, shouting and agitating it becomes one endless marching rant that is unwieldy and no one hears.

Work harder by thinking smarter.

Maybe the (non)illustrious mayor and the city council ninnies should concentrate on WHD’s issues instead of Texas’. WHD has enough skeletons buried of their own to be worried about others

It’s always a distraction because so often WeHo’s “leaders” are tag alongs for other misinformed folks with higher profiles. They attempt to squeeze into the spotlight any way they can. Rarely does West Hollywood look to and consider effective policies in Beverly Hills and Santa Monica, our nearest of kin.

Hard to wedge in substantive issues when the agenda is filled with marches, parades, acknowledgments, shiny objects and made up task forces. A focus on the facts generally elicits solutions to issues. Perhaps they need training for this.
