Elyse Eisenberg, WeHo Heights Neighborhood Association Chairperson and a Business License Commissioner, has put together a series of surveys requesting community feedback on the pending 8850 Sunset Blvd. / Viper Room project.These comments will be submitted to Doug Vu for inclusion as part of the public response to the DEIR (Draft Environmental Report) which is due by Nov. 5.This project is expected to be presented to the City Council in February.
This is the Second in a series of surveys on the 8850 Sunset / Viper Room Project. This survey is on the Project’s Uses.

All surveys will be open until November 1, 2021, after which they will be submitted to the City of West Hollywood for inclusion as part of Public Comments to the Draft Environmental Impact Report (DEIR)
Comments are supposed to be based on issues that were raised in DEIR (Draft Environmental Report) and are due by no later than November 5, 2021.
Who doesn’t love a park? Perfect location for a respite from the eventual digital glow of all the billboards and cannabis haze. Something real and authentic to offset so much crass commerciality with a grove of trees and perhaps a graceful water feature. A postage stamp sized Central Park, The Silver Creek Developer’s gift to the community and commitment to conservation. All we would need is a modern age Frederick Law Olmsted to bring this.

Thank you Susan. Perhaps a small pond with ducks would be nice. If you know Holmby Park on Beverly Glen, South Mapleton near Comstock, it has all the low key ingredients and was deeded to the City of LA to be used as a public park. Janss Investment was the company, developers of Holmby Hills that made this possible and is maintained by the City of LA Parks.
BTW, the ducks that live there are frequently seen visiting other properties in the general area to stretch their wings. I’ve seen them as Far East as Foothill Blvd.
This building is somebody’s vanity project, and as in Hans Christian Anderson’s parable, The Emperor Has No Clothes, the city council is afraid to say so.
Los Angeles grew out for decades. Now the only way is to grow up. This proposed project is on a major commercial corridor so I have no issue with the height. The strip of retail stores that are there now will be no loss. This project will inject some new life into that stretch of Sunset. And for all the people that have been complaining about the modern “boxes” this is certainly out of the box. lol

While this development opportunity is more likely to become a distracting “Attraction” rather than a landmark or icon it assuredly will be widely marketed as such to tourists without regard for the residents and surrounding neighborhoods. Traffic impacts will be significant as people will be unable to train their focus from the glowing billboard arcade to this extravagant piece. Sunset will become Crash Central fueled by Cannabis Clubs and whatever other foolishness this city fosters.
It’s already Crash Central as there have been tons of car crashes at Larrabee and Sunset Blvd as the drunk drivers hit Terner’s liquor store repeatedly over the years.

yes just google: West Hollywood Sunset Strip Sunset Blvd. car crash, death, Sunset and Larrabee, I’ve have heard first hand at 3 and 4 am the cars speeding and the crashes, also ask Sheriff’s Dept regarding police reports for victims and the ones who were dead, LA Times and Wehoville have covered them too
Seems if you had a front row seat and this was such an important issue, you might have gotten the stats, made a real issue of it and made a meaningful presentation of it calling for action especially concerning the expected digital billboards distractions, Easy to just tell someone to google it, lazy and expected response. This was a simple test.
He can’t articulate his objection because like all the other NIMBYs he has no leg to stand on short of ignorant responses (ie. Google it) and exaggerated claims.
Of course he doesn’t. He’s just another NIMBY. All BS and no substance.
