SHERIFF: Voluntary compliance vs. ‘Vaccine Mandate Police’

By Sheriff Alex Villanueva

In Los Angeles County we have a Board of Supervisors who repeatedly call to empty the jails and release felons back onto the streets; a District Attorney who refuses to prosecute many misdemeanors and has effectively de-criminalized a myriad of crimes through his special directives; a homeless problem in excess of 80K which continues to grow without solutions; a 54% increase in homicides; and all this occurred as LASD was defunded and stripped of 1,400 positions.

These reckless actions in the name of “woke-ism” have real-world consequences and public safety continues to suffer as a result.  Continuing to defund LASD when there is a $2 billion surplus forces us to make tough choices regarding the allocation of resources. When a decision must be made between responding to a violent felony in progress or serving as the “vaccine mandate police,” the choice is simple.

The Department will continue requiring all of our employees to register with the Fulgent system but will only seek voluntary compliance and testing for the unvaccinated.

Good. Cops are NOT public health workers.

Love him or hate him Villaneuva is the ONLY law enforcement person who addresses our out of control homeless problem. He is the one who cleared Venice Beach and is now working on the area around the VA near Brentwood. LAPD does nothing. Both of these encampments were/are a disgrace to our city and all of our elected officials should be ashamed they have allowed such inhumane conditions to go on for years without offering help and shelter to our residents. Pathetic. I have reported similar issues on the City of LA 311 app for years around the LA borders… Read more »

I can assure everyone, after reviewing a print copy and video of the “sensitivity training” provided to LASD WH Deputies you will be insulted and outraged by the the offensive stereotypical depiction portrayed of the LGBTQI and Russian communities. I realize this comment applies to the interview with the Captain, but those articles are no longer here.

In Los Angeles County we have a Sherriff who repeatedly and consistently refuses to do his job excepts as he sees fit. These reckless actions and disregard for authority is the reason we need a new Sherriff.

Nothing this Sheriff says should ever have attention paid to it since he continuously since taking office has broken the law. Subpoenas on answered. He needs to be gotten rid of in any way, shape, or form. And the Democratic Party should be ashamed for ever having endorsed him!

“He needs to be gotten rid of in any way, shape, or form.”

Is that a threat?

Only if you’re a parent at a school board meeting, then you’re a Domestic Terrorist, if not you’re just a normal Progressive Democrat.

I believe it was a court order to empty the jails.
You ordered the release of 1,700 prisoners last year.

Many misdemeanors should not be prosecuted, or given more than a slap on the wrist.
We elected progress in the DAs office. Deal with it.

I make no exceptions for the lack of ability to take anybody seriously who use the word *woke* these days.

Crime or vaccines? You can do better than that?
Or perhaps you cannot.
Sounds like the same line of excuses used when any federal pol discusses cutting the Pentagon budget.

Why do we continue to elect sheriffs? And judges – of whom we never really know enough of their abilities nor their level of common sense. Go back to Nottingham, sheriff.

Can anyone name another vaccine that fails to prevent either transmission or infection?

If it doesn’t do either of those, is it a vaccine or just a therapeutic?

The anti-vaxxers are the ultimate special snowflakes. Two billion people around the world vaccinated, Trump, Biden, the congress, all of Fox News vaccinated. Are all of us going to suffer from the vaccine, fall down and die and the rest of the special snowflakes going to helm the planet? You’re not special snowflakes and there are not two valid sides to this. You get vaccinated., And this sheriff needs to be replaced.

The Sheriff’s politics should not interfere with his duty. The Sheriff’s job is to follow the law. When the Sheriff decides for himself which laws he will follow, it’s time to replace the Sheriff.

Excuse me Karen but there are no laws requiring vaccinations, only mandates. Laws have civil penalties or criminal prosecution to them. As such our illustrious Sheriff have no Covid Laws to enforce.

Trespassing is a law which would be used to remove an anti-vaxxer from a place of business. Thats how it works.

Trespassing is a crime but the feeble minded Socialist DA refuses to prosecute that offense (or almost any other misdemeanor) so is it a crime or just a way to violate one’s civil rights?

“One’s civil rights” You don’t have a civil right to be in a private business. Stevie, you need to read the constitution.

And the LASD absolutely enforces trespassing laws.

Excuse me Nellie, but the vaccine mandate IS a law passed by the Board of Supervisors.

Really Karen? So by not having a vaccine somebody can be jailed and prosecuted or by going somewhere and not being vaccinated I can be arrested and jailed? Really Karen? What’s the county code making non-Covid vaccination a crime? Please do tell.

Again, you would be potentially arrested or forcefully kicked out for trespassing.

Good luck trying to live in Weho if you’re not vaccinated! We are at 80% of the population vaccinated now 🙂

Sherriff decides for himself which laws he will follow, District Attorney decides for himself which crimes he will prosecute

This is a prime example of “whataboutism”

Why are vaccine rates so low in the LAPD and LASD?

The Sheriff is just engaging in deflection; it is frustrating that a group of deputies believe that they can make their discontent known by embracing anti-vacx anti-social behavior. Unfortunately the majority of the deputies we know and respect are tarnished by this sort of irresponsible behavior and lack of leadership on the part of Villanueva.

Seems if law enforcement refuses to be vaccinated, tested daily and or masked in dealing with the general public, perhaps they might consider a leave of absence without pay. The other deputies will simply have to carry the load until they relent.

In second grade I recall my classmates to be far more responsible than this.

Great thing about AFLAC insurance, your doctor takes you off work for a medical reason and AFLAC will pick up your pay fully. I know, I used it many a times for “illnesses”

Just wonder what proof you have this is over “discontent” and not over forcing somebody to put a drug into their body? Did you interview any of these “discontent” deputies?

Maybe they are true leaders and not sheep following some Henry Penny vaxers.
