The Disabilities Advisory Board presented this year’s 2021 Disability Service Awards to those who’ve gone above and beyond to serve WeHo’s disabled community.
At their meeting Wednesday night, City Councilmember Lindsey Horvath opened the presentation by thanking the board for their service during the pandemic.
She and Boardmember David Nash presented the Lovedy Brydon Differently Abled Individual Award to David Kruskall, who works as an Independent Living Specialist at the WeHo Disability Resource Center.
It’s moments like these that remind me why I came on board to this great company.
“In his role he consistently goes the extra mile,” Horvath said.
“I can’t tell you how much I appreciate your service,” said Nash. “You helped me connect to the world of assisted technology.”
Kruskall spoke about the rewards of his position during his acceptance speech.
“This position has changed my life for the better,” Kruskall said.
As she presented the Business Award, Myra “Mikie” Friedman thanked the staff at CVS for their work mailing out prescriptions to homebound patients during the pandemic at no extra cost.
The Media Award was given to the acclaimed film Not Going Quietly.
Step On Second, which delivers compassionate support to people experiencing serious mental health illness and chronic homelessness, received the Nonprofit Award.
I see Lauren Meister is still on the space station. And how does CVS possibly get an award for anything?
Why are these meetings still held virtually?
Sadly the writer of this article failed to mention the fact that that all five (5) WeHo City Councilmembers were present at The DisAbilities Awareness Month Service Awards last night. This is most important as over 4,000 residents in our community live with disAbilities. I’m certain they value support from the individuals that represent them on the Dias. Personally, I know I do! Thanks Council!
