David Wood, a West Hollywood resident and Farmers Insurance Agent, has purchased a minority interest in Boystown Media Inc, owner of WEHOville.
The addition of Wood expands the ownership ranks and board of directors of Boystown Media Inc. Nick Remedio is the current Vice President of Boystown Media, and Larry Block is the current Chair retaining ownership of 88% of the company.
The move to divest shares to community members is the long-term plan for WEHOville, said Block. The goal is to have 20 owners who live and love WEHO.
“WEHOville will continue no matter what happens to me, and that’s the vision.”
David Wood a.k.a. “Woody” has a long history of volunteering for many local organizations, including Labor Day LA where he served as its President in 1995. He also participated in the California Aids Lifecycle, serves as the President of his homeowners association and was a founding board member of Melrose Action 2021. David currently serves as a volunteer for the West Hollywood Chamber of Commerce as its Vice Chair of Membership.
In addition, Brandon Garcia has been formally named the editor of WEHOville. “Brandon has presided though a tough transition and our readership has quadrupled since we took over in April 2021,” said Block.
“We end the year with a strong local team including both Nick Remedio and David Wood as partners. Community oriented writer’s including Linda Cauthen, Tony Rizzo and Jessika Ryzenberg. John Duran has introduced the “Lavender Pen’ Series of interviews of Gay Icons. Our readership has quadrupled since we took over in April and we are still learning.
Sound decision
Congratulations Brandon!
Good to see the ownership of Wehoville go to local people who know the city well and live there as well.Mr. Block can’t do everything.
Great addition to the WeHoville line up. Starting the New Year strong!
Woody! An excellent addition to WeHoville’s management. I served with David on Labor Day LA. A very upstanding individual.
I haven’t seen aids in lower case like this since the acronym was first used in the early days of the epidemic.
