The most appropriate name would be the “West Hollywood Homeless Shelter.”
NO!
Can we just stop glorifying people for 10 min.
Who decides that she or someone else is more worthy than another? I can think of plenty of women who achieved far more than Ms. Ginsberg (and I am a fan of hers)
Where does it stop. John Wayne, Bradley…the list goes on and on.
How about we call City Hall “Vacantville” or West Hollywood “Party Pines”
It is really about glorifying the three “professional” political hacks on the WEHO CC. Horvath, Shyne and Erickson.
I was involved with the West Hollywood Library for some time. Aside from the wonderful classes and events they sponsor, it is primarily a very, very expensive homeless shelter. Let’s keep the name and fix the problems so that everyone can use and enjoy the West Hollywood Library as intended.
That would require real leadership.
I don’t know who made that decision but I was surprised to hear that the Library was essentially being used as a homeless drop in center. While a drop in center is probably a good idea, the library is not the place to do it.
The people who work at the library consider it their job to take care of the homeless. Most of the people at the West Hollywood Library are good people, but their mission has been perverted.
I have no doubt about the library staff’s compassion. I see this at the Law Library downtown on rainy days. But it is not the location to be providing services.
Surprised to hear that. I visited the library weekly to study while I was taking classes in the fall, and it seemed like the library staff worked really hard to maintain quality service and library environment despite COVID and despite the reality of how poorly public space is treated throughout the LA region. I’m sure there are homeless individuals using the library, but they generally blended in with everyone else. Maybe it has changed the last couple months? The library is a a really beautiful place and I’m so appreciative it’s there. Also been able to take advantage of career… Read more »
No. They’re only considering this for national exposure.
Like changing the name of the library is going to fill hotels where all the tax money comes from, so that the dreadful SHE can do their political hacks act.
I propose we call it the Pat Benatar Library. Why not? It’s just as random, and she’s awesome.
Absolutely not! I blame RBG for the disaster we now have with the Supreme Court. She should have retired under Obama to protect our seat. She continued working into her 80’s because she was a workaholic. I don’t admire that. She had the money and the accomplishments to have a nice retirement. Protect the seat!! Instead she put herself ahead of the country because of her addiction to work. Selfish. Yes we all thought Hillary would win but there is no guarantee in an election. It was unnecessary risk. Didn’t we learn from the disaster election of 2000? ANYTHING is… Read more »
You are one angry guy!
So what’s your opinion for Let’s Go Brandon or any other 70 something in running in 2020 or even any other year? Do you hate Pelosi? Feinstein? McConnell? When should any person stop working and die in your opinion.
To clarify, I wasn’t referring to the retirement of general workers. Although having said that I do believe much of our Senate has members who really should move aside for younger blood and ideas. But that’s a different conversation for another day. I’m referring to the importance of the Supreme Court members and it’s potential effect on the entire country. I’m just saying she took a risk and lost the bet.
Most people hate McConnell at this point.
.
Ugh. Your comments are cliche.
I love how triggered you are. Just keep scrolling next time, troll.
“Most people?” Who are these “most people?” Ah yes, the cesspool of liberal democrats and their hired help.
I believe you mean “fanatics” that now control the Party formally known as Democrats.
Not a single member of Congress wields the power of a Supreme Court Justice, and they don’t get lifetime appointments, even if many have been there the the majority of their lifetimes. If Pelosi or Feinstein were to die, I can pretty much guarantee they would be replaced by other Democrats, both being from California, and Pelosi, from one of the most liberal districts in the State. McConnell would be replaced by a Republican, almost certainly, coming from Kentucky.
I agree RBG is responsible for the court shift.
But the bigger take away is here is selecting a name is divisive.
The library belongs to West Hollywood. Leave it the West Hollywood Library!
Correct.

I have no comment since I find naming buildings silly. I am still trying to name my children How about “I love reading books”
Should change the name from Library……to Homeless Shelter.
Yep.
You have a point. I was last in there a couple of years ago and there were bodies all over the place and it smelled awful.
It seems a mirror of the filthy sidewalks that the city appears to tolerate. The filth degrades the library, the sidewalks, the city and yet the city leaders are anxious for filthy money from the cannabis surge which will also polite the air. Cleanliness was once presumed to be second to godliness. Makes no sense.
As for the name, NY has The New York Public Library, WH could have The West Hollywood Library. Clean it up, improve the content and let it shine.
No. RBG was/is a hero to me and our community. But our city founders placed a plank in our city charter that buildings wouldn’t be named for desist individuals for at least 5 years after death. Our original founders had laid a very nice frame work for West Hollywood and this current city council with its unfocused, knee-jerk responses has just about dismantled everything that worked so well for 30+ years. If the library needs to be named at all how about ‘City of West Hollywood Founders Library’. Let’s honor those here that came before.
The honor of having a name attached to the WeHo (County) Public Library should be that of the late resident Rita NORTON. She was the de facto senior librarian of the earlier, “school house” library building and long-time president of the WeHo Library Association. She was a major mover/shaker of creating a (county) public library in our city and is most deserving of such an honor.
Rita was the primary moving force behind getting this new facility built. There should at least be a plaque in her honor outlining all of her efforts and years of service to Friends of the Library.
She was a trailblazer and an amazing woman who we all looked up to and admired, so I would support naming the library after her.
You must be a lawyer. Ginsburg had nothing to do with West Hollywood. She was a lawyer. This is not a law library. Sepi Shyne pushed Ginsburg right away after Ginsburg died. Shyne is a lawyer. Frankly, enough of lawyers, political correctness and bowing to the wishes of some local political hack like Shyne.
“Frankly, enough of lawyers”
What does this even mean? Did you not get accepted into law school, Michael? Still salty?
No law school for me. Although, because of affirmative action, I could have easily been accepted as a student. I was POC. Purple was my color. Like the polish you apply to John Erickson’s nails.
Michael Grimace.
