A man barricaded inside a Hollywood Hills home for over six hours was taken into custody Friday.

Los Angeles Police Department officers were called about 11 a.m. to the 1700 block of Sunset Plaza Drive after receiving a report from a caller who said they discovered the man squatting in the building with his dog before the man brandished a shotgun and ran into the house, according to a department statement.

SWAT units were called to the scene as authorities attempted to negotiate a surrender with the man.

The man was taken into custody about 5:30 p.m., said LAPD Officer Drake Madison.

No further details were immediately released.

What happened to the dog??!!
Was it taken to a NO-KILL shelter or where? Did they even take the dog away or leave it??? I hate stories that involve pets with no follow up!

Guns again. Violence again. What more does this useless city council need to address the crime increase in West Hollywood and put more cops on the street?

Well I know “they are corrupt” but I’m NOT giving up on the idea that one day we will have better law enforcement ❗ 👮🏽‍♀️

More law-abiding citizens should have guns.

NO, because “law-abiding citizens” are more likely than not to be lousy gun fighters compared to what they would be up against! Even significantly greater damage would be inflicted by “law-abiding citizens” from accidental shootings and bad judgement calls.

The stats don’t back you up, Cy. It is in fact just the opposite. Of course, gun owners should be trained in the use of guns and the stats say they are.

We have argued this very point before and, NO the stats do NOT back you up on this one. More people with guns do NOT lower crime and more harm is caused by gun accidents and bad judgement calls than crime itself.

Your sources for news would say that.

But your sources for news are wrong about most everything.

Confirmation bias.

And the right-wing liberian sources you support that would NOT say that, have FAILED time and time again (just like antivaxxers and climate change deniers) to provide reproduceable results backing their position.

What does it have to do with anything? Just another excuse for a few people obsessed with “the three” to froth at the mouth yet again.

I didn’t vote for them and don’t particularly like them, but jeebus give it a rest..

Agree with both of you. The Sheriff Dept. pretty much runs autonomously. This has been a problem since I moved here, in ’99, and probably before that. But certain people want to blame every problem on the “three.” And why not the other two? It is ridiculous. Some people don’t even understand how city government works.
