Rapper Kodak Black was identified as one of four people who were shot Saturday at an afterparty following a Justin Bieber concert on the outskirts of West Hollywood, according to multiple media reports.
NBC News reported that four law enforcement sources familiar with the shooting named the 24-year-old rapper, whose legal name is Bill Kapri, as one of the victims. TMZ also reported that the rapper was one of the shooting victims. The Los Angeles Police Department would not confirm those reports.
The LAPD said all the victims were in stable condition.
Police were sent to the 400 block of North La Cienega Boulevard, between Beverly Boulevard and Melrose Avenue, at 2:45 a.m., according to Officer Drake Madison of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Media Relations Division.
“They (witnesses) heard a fight outside, when multiple shots were fired,” Madison said.
Police later added that “gunshots were fired by an unknown suspect, who then fled south from the location.”
The victims were a 19-year-old man, a 20-year-old man, a 60-year-old man and a 24-year-old man thought to be Kodak Black.
The LAPD said paramedics rushed two victims to local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries, and officers discovered there were two additional victims who self-transported to local hospitals.
The Los Angeles Fire Department’s Brian Humphrey said police called his department at 2:49 a.m. regarding the shooting. The man now thought to be Black may have called authorities at about 3:16 a.m., while in the 10300 block of Wilshire Boulevard, at Comstock Avenue, to report that he had been shot or wounded, Humphrey said.
TMZ reported that the shooting took place as a fight broke out involving Black, but Madison could not corroborate that. A video from the scene appeared to indicate that 10 gunshots were fired.
The entertainment website reported that the afterparty occurred at The Nice Guy restaurant, near the Pacific Design Center, where Bieber had performed a concert whose audience reportedly included Leonardo DiCaprio, Drake, Tobey Maguire, Kendall Jenner and Khloe Kardashian.
Kapri was sentenced to prison in 2019 for weapons possession and was pardoned in 2021 by former President Donald J. Trump.
The LAPD’s Wilshire station urged anyone with information regarding the shooting to call them at 213-922-8217 or Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477
And Hip-Hop wonders why no one likes them except people in prisons and welfare lines.
Lol thats not true at all.
Uhh…no…not “near” Weho, actually IN Weho. 😮
Drake Madison? You’re kidding!
Thank you to all the panic purveyors who turned up on schedule this week in the Wehoville comments section. If it weren’t for their finely-tuned hysteria, I wouldn’t know how alarmed I should be at what is another pretty routine shooting in Los Angeles County. Sad as that is to say, they seem to ignore that the same stuff happens all around us: Long Beach, Hollywood, South Central, etc. The Second Amendment is the price we pay for freedom, no?
I’m fine if it’s Rappers shooting other Rappers and gang members.
I’m not when I live three blocks from said incident and hear gunshots and sirens at 3am.
West Hollywood city with the 6th worst crime rate uin California…Go Branden.
Weho now 4th most dangerous city in Cal. https://vimeo.com/676340502
Really, you’re citing a Vimeo video as your authoritative source? WeHo isn’t even in the top 10. Based on violent and property crime rates per 100,000 population, the 10 most dangerous cities are: Stockton, San Bernardino, Susanville, Oakland, Dos Palos, Compton, Barstow, Huron, Commerce and Richmond. The source of this is the FBI’s Uniform Crime Report. A summary is here: https://vanlifewanderer.com/2022/01/06/most-dangerous-cities-california/. Six of these are heavily Republican, by the way. So, you can’t blame the mythical “permissive liberal laws” for this. I’ll take Brandon over the the Orange Menace any day.
It happened in LA, and Brandon won.
i love brown people
Are you kidding? There really are trolls everywhere.
You BETTER love brown people!
This behavior will all go away once the new Supreme Store opens up on Sunset. In fact, Kodak Black should be hired to perform at the Grand opening! That ought to be a real “Riot”…..🙄
This area was known in a previous era as the Gangster Playground. Currently it is simply a replay with a different breed of gangsta. Org crime continues to bubble beneath the surface. Hard to distinguish between legitimate folks and gangstas.
If you’re trying to make a comparison of the Mobsters in the 1920’s and 1930’s who dressed, acted like gentlemen and only gave you problems if you deserved it to the disrespectful Hoodrats who pick fights and shoot into crowds with no discretion or regard for who they kill or injure, then you would be sadly misguided. Sorry….
You heard it here first from the MAGA man himself!
Murder is okay if you’re dressed in a suit!
Didn’t you move out of West Hollywood?
Don’t put words in my mouth. Thanks.
Not at all misguided. You missed the remark of “different breed of gangsta” all things considered. Crime is crime regardless of the wardrobe and a con is a con regardless of their behavior.
The Sunset Strip was a popular hangout for the 1920’s era Mobsters. I agree that crime is crime regardless of how you dress however, West Hollywood and the Strip were not areas that the mobsters controlled nor did they shake down businesses for protection money. Again, as long as you didn’t mess with them in business dealings, you were left alone and there definitely wasn’t indiscriminate murdering of innocent people.
Criminals, no matter how they dress should be in jail. Those 20’s and 30’s mobsters you are romanticizing are just as bad as today’s gangsters no matter what color skin they have. And how gentlemanly is it to do bodily harm to a proprietor of a small business owner because they don’t have the money to pay protection.
Seems Jake Lee may be confused between chalk striped double breasted suits and chalk white sneakers. 🙄
This is not a surprise. Rappers? Gee, what a surprise. Avoid avoid avoid
This isn’t even WeHo.
Yeah, thank God it was a block away. I feel so much safer now.
Yes, it is. It was IN Weho.
Oh stop it desert Bob
There are No Violent Crimes in Weho
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
