They weren’t supposed to start until 8 a.m. this morning, but work crews were seen and heard around 7:30 a.m. as they began transforming the former Tower Records on Sunset Blvd. into the L.A.’s area second Supreme location.
While developers notified nearby residents of the impending construction via text, neighbors remain wary after a recent Zoom meeting held by Afriat Consulting Group meant to assuage fears instead left many questions unanswered.
Though construction noise and debris was a concern, most residents at the meeting wanted to hear about the store’s operations — specifically, how the company planned to avoid the ruckus and traffic generated by the Supreme store on Fairfax Ave. Afriat’s Aaron Green curtailed discussion on that topic.

If construction starts just a half hour early, and maybe they’ll finish this project up on time, who cares? It’s basically an interior renovation, little is being done to the exterior, so most of the work will be inside, out of sight. Why make a fuss, when they don’t care anyway. I’m sure they’re in high drama project management and blame everyone and yell mode and therefore won’t be able to hear any residents.
The law is the law and the city should enforce the law.

Who cares, unless you live in close proximity of the project! Laws are put into place for a reason. Quality of life is a big issue. Code compliance should be enforcing the laws on the books. Don’t like the rules, work on changing them. But until then, they should be upheld. Period.
I completely understand your frustration, but anything that city does to enforce this will affect the contractor (who provides blue collar jobs to people who need work) more than Supreme. This problem is temporary, save your breath for when the store is open.
The owners knew people in the neighborhood were going to be watching them, yet they still violated the law on Day One. What was their penalty from the city? A $10,000 fine? A one month delay on the start? My guess is how about a big nothing? Did Sepi and John Ericson run over at 7:30 a.m., in their pajamas, and start screaming at the illegal construction? Nope. They were nowhere to be seen, along with the rest of our beloved council. 7 months of construction that we all know will go into two years, maybe more.
Yep, it says something about the owners…knowing damn well that residents are not thrilled with them coming into the neighborhood and would be watching them carefully and they were still obnoxious and brazen enough to disregard the law day one. They should be fined. That’s what fines are for, to stop bad behavior. When the laws are not enforced, those that have total disregard for the law will break it – every time. Why has that lessoned not be learned yet? And why is our city council against enforcing laws on the books? It’s just woke craziness.
Welcome to West Hollywood construction. The construction at the corner of Ramage St. and Santa Monica Blvd. starts anytime between 6:30am and 7:45 everyday. Was only supposed to be Monday thru Friday but Saturdays gets in the mix too. Wait until street sweeping days when the construction crews will take all the resident parking and do not receive parking tickets for parking against the posted signs. If a resident doesn’t move their car they will be cited for $117.00 ticket. Construction workers do not get ticketed. Hmm. Must be a development thing with the city council. NOT OFF TO A GOOD START. No constructions before 8am means just that. If it happens again, the city should fine them. If code compliance is on top of this like they were with the sound monitoring from the super bowl parties at the PDC over the weekend, residents in that area are screwed.
