Suspect in WeHo-area assaults arrested

The suspect in a pair of assaults in the WeHo area this week was arrested Thursday by Los Angeles PD.

The suspect, a transient black man in his 30s, was captured on security camera footage forcing a woman into a garage before attempting to rape her around 12:30 p.m. Tuesday on the 800 block of Vista Ave. She broke free and the suspect fled the scene. Twenty minutes later, the man pushed another woman into her apartment off the 7600 block of Hampton Ave. in West Hollywood. She screamed, catching the attention of neighbors, and the assailant ran off.

A Community Safety Alert was issued by law enforcement prior to his capture.

West Hollywood Station and the Los Angeles Police Department want the community to be aware of an assaultive transient.

Today, February 15, 2022, at approximately 1 pm, a female adult was walking in the 800 block of N. Vista Street in the City of Los Angeles.  A male, black, transient, early 30’s, wearing dark clothing and carrying a bag, pushed the female into a garage.  The female victim was able to quickly get away from the male suspect.  Approximately 15-20 minutes later, in the 7600 block of Hampton Ave in the City of West Hollywood, a male, black, transient, early 30’s, with dark clothing carrying a bag, pushed a female adult into her apartment.  The female victim screamed, and the male suspect ran out.  This is preliminary information.

LOL at how oblivious most WeHo residents are to the fact that their liberal tendancies and white-guilt trips make them the perfect prey for POC criminals.

I don’t think it was necessary to say he was black three times in the short article.

Spare us the useless sanctimony. He IS black. Would you complain if he was WHITE and described as such ??

They caught the creep, but how long will he be in jail? He will likely be on the street again very soon.

He’ll be put into the new middle income housing development on Crescent Heights. Say “HI” to your new neighbor.

Another homeless person just looking for an affordable home perhaps? Maybe he’s just misunderstood. Give that man some of that “free money.”

You really are a horrible person. Even though I disagree with Larry on things, it’s obvious he CARES about West Hollywood and the residents here.

I agree, I believe Larry does care about West Hollywood. But I have to say, I don’t care for some of the merchandise he has out on the public sidewalk. I don’t believe Ham is a horrible person. He’s just horribly disgusted (as many are) to see what has happened to a city that we love and the misguided path it is on.

Who cares if you approve Larry selling clothes outside his store? What does that have to do with Larry being a “model citizen”? And furthermore, why are we even discussing this?

And “Ham” IS a horrible person. Always leaving negative comments especially on anything to do with the LGBT community.

What makes people believe he is homeless? Is it just the opinion of the victims? He may very well be homeless, but he may not. It’s similar to a case a few years back when it was assumed that a murder suspect was homeless when he came up here to BH and killed the woman casting director. It turns out he was not homeless. He had an apartment at the Harvey apartments on SMB Too much rush to judgement may slow down or prevent the apprehension of this horrible person. Misplaced anger at the homeless might come back and bite.… Read more »

There is no evidence that this guy is a rapist. He is violent and should be captured and taken off the streets. However, he has not raped anyone that we know of. His victims may have felt they were going to be raped, which is reasonable, but there is no evidence that he raped anyone. When people allow their emotions to take over, they lose rational thinking which is necessary in solving this matter. The anger should also be directed at those responsible for keeping us safe: LASD, WH Public Safety Department. No comment from either. Let’s hold ALL those… Read more »

This is so insane. What are you trying to accomplish with your comment? That we can’t trust attempted rape victims because they’re emotional?

You want to mince words and say he is an attempted rapist? WHO CARES

Seriously? There is no evidence he’s a rapist? When a man tries to rape two women on two separate occasions and they happen to get away from him before he is able to do so, he is a rapist. Attempted rape is not just a crime of violence, it is a sexual assault. There’s a reason both women thought they were going to get raped. They’re not crazy. You, on the other hand, sound like a misogynistic apologist for rapists. Stop telling people to not let their emotions take over just because you have none. You also lack logic so… Read more »

There is a homeless rapist on the loose who is attacking women in broad daylight, and some of the men here are seriously discussing the plight of the “unhoused?” Seriously??? There is a homeless rapist on the loose! THAT is the issue. Housing that animal will not stop him from being a rapist. Housing him in prison, on the other hand, or any lockdown facility will make women in the community safe from at least one rapist POS for as long as he is locked up.

Our council majority wants to defund the police and one of them actually wants to be a LA County supervisor and has the others support. Wow.

They do not want to defund the police!

Why do people keep spreading this lie? Do you watch Council meetings? Did you watch the one, on budget approval, back in June? They didn’t make any cuts to the LASD’s budget, that I’m aware of. They did discuss canceling Halloween, again, and having a scaled-down Pride for 2022, which does save some public safety dollars. But that is not the same thing.

The LASD is well-funded, and, in fact, probably over-funded, with government wast. And yet they still continue to refuse to walk/bike our streets.
