We need more rainbow crosswalks and flags. That will solve the crime issue.

Why are you always attacking the rainbow flags? Are you homophobic? I’m pro public safety and pro common sense. It is never a choice between rainbow flags and public safety. They are two completely different things, but they are not mutually exclusive. Treating them like they’re polar opposite issues is just moronic. I want both things. That’s why I live in West Hollywood. I want my rainbow flags and I want to live around people who aren’t homophobic jerks. I also want and demand public safety. You can attack the city council for its lax and stupid attitude toward public… Read more »

Then we should have crosswalks painted for every group that lives here. Who can be against that????

Does your “group” have a flag? Let me guess. Is it the one with a swastika on it? West Hollywood has been a community with a strong LGBT presence for decades. That’s meaningful for many reasons you seem to not understand. In fact, you seem to resent it. I won’t waste my time trying to explain it to you, but if you’re so offended by public displays of lgbt pride and inclusion, you can move. In fact, please do. Your tired obsession with rainbow flags and your constant sexist and homophobic rants render your opinions on any topic completely irrelevant.… Read more »

Hey, who cares! We have more important things to spend money on, like rainbow crosswalks and trans flags!!!
Thank God for our useless immature city council!

West Hollywood, the land of opportunity. Most of these crimes were entirely preventable. Do folks check their brains at the border/

Any crime is NEVER the victims fault. You know what else is preventable? Going to jail for breaking the law. 🙂

Seems as if you might favor leaving your front door and car open for opportunity to strike. Lucky you, then you can engage the police to help you out of stupidity on tax payer funds. Lovely.

How is an armed robbery preventable, other than never leaving your house?? Even then, you can end up the victim of a home invasion. The only way to prevent these things is to lock up the creeps that commit these crimes for lengthy periods of time in prison. The problem is they’re not being locked up and every psycho has a gun. As for burglaries, doors get pried open and windows get broken. Blame the victim again for that? You’re the one checking your brain at the border if you think crime victims are at fault or that none of… Read more »

If one reads the list of crimes reported, please notice how many car break-ins were avoidable. Leaving laptops and other, desirable items in full view is never a good idea, likewise cell phones on bars or restaurant tables. Most people know these preventable ideas from childhood but now folks feel that they always need to be connected. Seems like common sense. You’re wrong in your last assertion. I did experience a very serious 3 am break-in at my house on border of LA/WH. Exited one afternoon by the front door rather than through the courtyard to my garage, the regular… Read more »

Wrong? 15 of 27 crimes preventable?

Certainly didn’t consider myself a victim then not yours now.

Easy to see you are apparently considerably challenged, having no respect for others and very little self respect.

The problem with your argument is that you’re putting the blame on crime victims rather than the perpetrators. It is irrelevant whether a particular theft could have been prevented if the victim had hidden their items better. The perpetrator had no right to take any of it! Period. If it’s not a stolen laptop, it’s a stolen catalytic converter. Or stolen rims or stolen tires. Or…a stolen car. You could also argue that had the victim not bought a car in the first place, there would be nothing to steal from it. Then of course there’s always an armed robbery… Read more »

Ok, here we go. Hopefully you have a head on your shoulders and realize it is much easier to avoid trouble than become a victim. This is not laying blame, it is being alert and smart. Yes, crime is unpredictable but I would certainly make a choice on being alert and anticipation. You appear to be hung up on fault and victimhood but that is not the point. As far as I know there are no public baby sitters. Although I am not thrilled with the city council or our sheriff’s deputies, I would rather stay out of their way… Read more »

No dear, you’re the one who is hung up on fault and victimhood as you made a point of blaming people for becoming victimized. We all live in a city. Most of us know we should be careful but no matter how careful we are, there’s always a creep lurking around. In any crime, there’s a criminal and a victim. Therefore, there is fault. There’s no middle ground. You place the burden on the person who got victimized because they weren’t careful enough. I blame the person who committed the crime. You said you woke up with someone on your… Read more »

There was never any element of blame in any of the comment(s). Facts, suggestions and admonitions, not wholly my own, were simply pointed out. There are many degrees of carefulness and carelessness. Hopefully the hatefulness and judgement of your comments will subside with increased knowledge and wisdom. Sayonara.

Not hateful; just disgusted with your victim blaming and condescension.
