NEW RESTAURANTS: Madeo’s new location

One of WeHo’s most beloved Italian restaurants is returning at a brand-new location.

Word on the street was that Madeo would not re-open after its spot in the 8899 Beverly Blvd. was snapped up by a new restaurant.

But Madeo announced this week that its new home will be at 1 Hotel West Hollywood at 8490 Sunset Blvd.

“I look forward to seeing our guests again,” says owner Alfio Vietina. “We are ready to gather around the table again.”

The restaurant will make use of the hotel’s sprawling terrace and its beautiful views for outdoor dining.

“We dreamed of a space that reminded us of Madeo Ristorante’s beachside dining in Forte dei Marmi while staying centrally located in Los Angeles” says Gianni Vietina, who runs the restaurant with his father, mother and brother.

Prior to opening Madeo Ristorante, Alfio developed restaurants and clubs in Tuscany’s seaside destination town, Forte dei Marmi. Regulars included Adriano Panatta, Marcello Mastroianni and the Moratti family. As an homage to Alfio’s grandfather, the family opened Madeo Ristorante in Forte dei Marmi. In 1985, Alfio and his family debuted Madeo in West Hollywood.

I’m so excited for the family. This is a positive move forward, I wish them all the success and will definitely be going there often. Yes, I have very fond memories of the Beverly Blvd location I went there with family and friends many times. This is what making the best thing out of a situation you can’t control looks like.

It had a ton of charm at the old location. This won’t be the same.

Have you ever left a positive comment on anything? You’re like that character from SNL just frowning at everything.

One could say Ham speaks for many. He’s like a barometer.

Once could walk to Madeo’s on Beverly. Now, I would need an ambulance to get me up to Sunset. But it sure would be worth iy.

Would have been nice to include photos of the birthplace of Madeo in Forte de Marmi and the potential “view” from Hotel 1.

Nothing to be incensed about. Not on Facebook simply experienced in journalism and this would have been a natural ingredient to a story or even a press release.
