Sheriffs respond to attempted robbery, assaultd

By West Hollywood West Residents Association

Yesterday afternoon an attempted robbery and assault with a deadly weapon occurred on Ashcroft Ave. in our neighborhood.

Lt William Moulder from the West Hollywood Sheriff Station tell us, “Deputies responded to a call at the location. The victim was approached by two suspects in the 8800 block of Ashcroft Ave in West Hollywood. The suspects attempted to steal a watch from the victim’s wrist. The victim resisted, and each one of the suspects produced a handgun, with at least one suspect striking the victim with the gun. Passers by began calling out to the suspects, causing them to flee the scene. The victim was transported to hospital.  The suspects are described as male, black, adults.  Anyone with information regarding this crime should call West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station at (310) 855-8850 or 911 if an emergency.”

Crime in West Hollywood and our surrounding areas is higher than pre-pandemic levels. But at the same time, the West Hollywood Public Safety Commission is recommending that the Sheriff’s budget be cut by $3,200,000 or 10 deputies. This suggestion ignores government’s obligation to provide ad

equate and effective public safety and law enforcement resources at a time when it is most needed. The City Council recently postponed considering this recommendation from the Public Safety Commission until a later date. The WHWRA strongly advocates against any reduction in the Sheriff’s budget and will let residents know when the City Council considers this budget issue again.

The fact is gay communities are being targeted by black men. Thier intent is to harm gay men. These are hate crimes. Democrats allow black men to harm gay men. Its like they are sacrificing gay men on the alter of political correctness because Democrats refuse to denounce black men who commit crimes.

Cut the Sheriff’s budget allocation and contact for police services from a police department. Perhaps Huntington Beach, Santa Monica, Pasadena or another city with a similarity active bar/club scene with high pedestrian traffic would bid for a contact. The city is throwing money at an incompetent, unwelcoming, and illegitimate department. I have received five improperly prepared“police reports”, been victimized by mistaken identity brutality, endured two-hour lobby waits with a disrespectful woman offering zero assistance and ongoing identity theft and theft with irrefutable ties to personnel. My attempts to reach the FBI have been fruitless. I swear my calls are all… Read more »

Time for a class action Breach of Public Trust lawsuit against the City Council, and the City of West Hollywood. Ericsson’s illegal actions such as painting the intersections resulting in thousands of dollars being spent to repaint them are charges to consider for openers. It’s very easy now, with defunding the police and their ludicrous actions supporting their political agendas to come up with a laundry list subverting the public trust of the citizens and taxpayers.

West Hollywood is the new San Francisco. Dysfunctional. Disgusting. Dangerous. Dirty.

And city hall is completely misguided.

This is horrendous and yet crimes like this now happen multiple times a week. The fact that the City of West Hollywood City Council members Horvath (and she’s running for LA County Supervisor), Shyne and Erickson each deny an increase in crime and endorse defunding the Sheriff department and the Public Safety Commission (who is appointed by the Weho City Council) support defunding with inaccurate reports.
The residents of West Hollywood deserve better.
Interesting fact that the Elton John AIDS Gala had over 30 uniformed Sheriff Deputies covering the event outside from Robertson, San Vicente and Melrose.

I wonder if those deputies who worked the Elton John event were working on their own time and paid privately?

LOL at how politicians have neutered the police so badly i recent years that people want to carry because they have zero faith in the police to protect them anymore. Thanx Democrats

The blame for the rise in crime is due to in large part to the actions and inaction of the politicians and other miscreants in charge of things. Maybe they want us to be afraid so we are reliant on them to “protect” us.

There are so many dangerous men and women roaming the streets of West Hollywood on a daily basis, We all know who they are. I blame the politicans for allowing this.

Same reason they don’t want you to be able to own guns. Self defense is self reliance and that is abhorrent to liberal politicians. They want us to cower and turn to them pleading for protection, which of course they cannot provide. Sorry, but today you need to be your own first responder. If you don’t have some way to protect yourself in your own home when the glass breaks or your door is kicked in, then shame on you.

West Hollywood West is a pretty heads up, alert neighborhood primarily of home owners. In other areas of the city, the degree of heads residents are unknown. Neighborhood policing and COPPS, what happened to these practices? Takes manpower and ingenuity not necessarily more $$$$. Certainly cutting the budget or number of deputies is not the answer.

Could this be the calm before the storm of the Cannabis Deluge?

Always the same “suspects”. Whether it’s smashing up the grove, stealing dogs, or pistol whipping during the middle of the day…
