“Mental health awareness is a critical component for ensuring that we’re all recovering from the toil that the pandemic has caused while navigating the stigma sometimes associated with seeking mental health services,” said City of West Hollywood Councilmember John M. Erickson. “I’m thankful to NAMI Westside Los Angeles and all the organizers for putting together these events and for the City’s continued efforts to support mental health awareness.”
Each year millions of Americans face the reality of living with a mental illness. The month of May is recognized as Mental Health Awareness Month and is a time when organizations and mental health advocates work together to fight stigma, provide support, educate the public, and advocate for policies that support people with mental illness and their families.
The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) is the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness. NAMI provides education, support, and advocacy to improve the lives of those living with mental illness, as well as their families and friends and mental health professionals. The nonprofit organization was founded in 1979, and now has more than 200,000 members and 1,200 affiliate groups. The NAMI Westside Los Angeles chapter is one of a number of affiliates of both the NAMI California and the NAMI National organizations in Los Angeles County and provides services in the Westside Los Angeles region.

a City run by mentally ill people – sponsors mental health month – genius!
I seriously hope the FBI is tracking your internet presence.
I don’t think so. They are spending too much time tracking where Biden is hiding his Depends.

The mentally deficient West Hollywood City Council are prime candidates for psychiatric treatment with John Erickson leading the pack.
Once folks with these types of disorders become imbedded in municipal government they are difficult to dislodge. Ms. Shyne also displays techniques wrapped in seemingly pragmatic speak but it is a type of soft control equally repugnant. They are not exactly mentally deficient as they exude a reasonably high intellect albeit lacking in balance and integrity.
Talking about crazy. It’s amazing Planned Parenthood employees Erickson. He actually posted on Instagram and Facebook… any woman wanting an abortion in California could stay in his one bedroom apartment. Despite claiming he’s gay, any bright woman taking him up on his BNB plus offer, could accept and then turn around and sue him for sexual harassment, attempted rape, etc. The City of West Hollywood could be liable. Probably would go to court. A #metoo jury could award big bucks that make John Duran’s half million dollar payout look like small potatoes. Of course PP would be libel too. Talk… Read more »
Jonathan Capehart of the Washington Post used the term “attention politics” to describe Marjorie Taylor Greene. Most appropriate to describe John Erickson.
Not appropriate all. Comparing the horror show MTG to anyone on the city council is ridiculous actually.
It seems clear you believe yourself to be the smartest in the room however the “attention politics” characteristic was just that, not an effort to equate cc antics with those in the National arena where MTG attempts to occupy space. Could be said you display similar traits.
Anyone on the city council are just local gadfly maladjusted personalities like you.
A closer look at John Erickson from a 2020 Wehoville article.

I suppose you can’t put a price tag on mental health but I suspect this is all part of “creating” a demand in order to justify the $3.2 million price tag for the proposed Mental Outreach workers that the Public Safety Commission proposes to fund but cutting 10 Sheriff’s deputies. Everyone is in favor of expanded mental health services the issue arises when you try to figure out how to pay for them.
Many create their own mental health debacle through all the usual means. We, as a country fail to puttee correct emphasis on character building disciplines in our children. Money is neither a solution nor a buffer to the problem. Yes, I realize that sounds like an overly broad statement but in my experience, I can say that. We have become an overindulgent people in countless ways and often folks rarely have a second chance to put their health and balance in first place.
Strong mental health is no laughing matter and becomes manageable via ones diligent life experiences and awareness. While NAMI brings together various elements it is introduced by Exhibit A, Councilmember Erickson who continually evidences questionable behavioral traits. Such an ironic and perplexing situation for one advocating another issue from the dais without having taken an elementary course in Mental Health 101. Mr. Erickson histrionics are disturbing and not qualities of a civic leader. Histrionic Personality Disorder is defined by the American Psychiatric Association as a pattern of excessive attention seeking behaviors including an excessive desire for approval.
