A five-story residential building featuring 14 affordable housing units will replace the headquarters of the Iranian American Jewish Foundation, a group of buildings that has stood there for nearly 75 years..

The building at 1317 Crescent Heights will contain 90 apartments total, each with one or two bedrooms, plus underground space for 125 parked vehicles.

The Iranian American Jewish Foundation was founded after the 1979 revolution in Iran. Today it provides resources to new immigrants in the United States.

If West Hollywood is supposed to be the creative city, where’s the creativity in the design of this building? I can’t believe the developers are going to raze a beautiful Art Deco building to build yet another lackluster box with 90 units that will only bring more congestion to this already congested area. Why can’t the current structure be integrated into the new design?

Here we go again. NIMBYs coming out with their baseless arguments. They rather have an empty lot rather than 90 new residents calling WeHo their home. You guys are NEVER satisfied or effective in anything proposed. Just the same old arguments. Blah blah blah. Or might you just be racist against Iranians? Time will tell

Waiting for you to pop up along with your buddy Mike Dolan. If either of you were knowledgable, a fruitful discussion could take place. Who wouldn’t desire a beautiful project reflecting the value of the best in the neighborhood. It takes skill, knowledge and an open mind. Have never seen either of you in evidence at Design Review or Planning Commission hearings.

Here we go again with your limited vocabulary……..you seem to ONLY rant about NIMBY’s coming out, blah blah blah. You are the one that is not (never) effective with your ignorant and obnoxious comments. No one would rather have an empty lot, as you wrote. You are so wrong in so many ways. You should read up on topics before continuing to rant about NIMBYs and what YOU seem to think “they” want.

This is an article lacking information. First it is strange that the IAJF group did not recognize or pursue landmark status for the Temple Beth-El attended by early Hollywood types. The adjacent hall has been used for years as a party palace unreasonably disruptive to the community for many years without much support from code compliance. Events subsided when the city was sued by an adjacent property owner who prevailed over plans to build an unremarkable parking structure. While it never occurred to IAJF to be cognizant of the community with more than 50 landmark structures within a 5 block… Read more »

This is terrible news. The so called “group of buildings “ was the main sanctuary of Hollywood Temple Beth El. Hollywood Temple Beth El was founded in 1922 with help of the Warner Brothers. The building is of architectural significance and reminds one of the Temple that once stood on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem. I was surprised that there was no mention of this in the article.

Lacking a Historic Resource Assessment appears more than an oversight and looks to be that someone may have finessed the need for one. This PC hearing should be continued until one is produced. That is what the ordinance(s) that speak to this verify. Who is accountable?
