Hearst Syndicate picks up WEHOville story on WeHo City Council candidate Ben Savage

Tony Rizzo’s ‘Hollywood Today’ is a weekly column in over 800 newspapers nationwide. In this week’s Hollywood Today Rizzo featured Ben Savage’s announcement for a West Hollywood City Council seat:

“At a party in the home of Larry Block, publisher of the online newspaper WEHOville, Ben Savage of “Boy Meets World” (1993-2000) announced his candidacy for West Hollywood City Council. Just another actor going into politics? Not quite. Savage received a degree in political science from Stanford University and interned for U.S. Sen. Arlen Specter. At 41, he’s lived in West Hollywood for 10 years and wants to make it a better place to live. Maybe the only way we can change West Hollywood is to unleash a savage onto it!”

If he launches a Punky Brewster Day in WeHo, I’m voting for him!

The guy seems nice but has absolutely nothing to say and no record of service. He doesn’t even seem to have opinions about the city. It’s weird.

While I am waiting for Savage to say something of substance, neither his celebrity nor his lack of previous involvement disqualify him from a legitimate run for office. He seems to be a blank slate and that is simultaneously a breath of fresh air and a cause for concern noting his lack of commitment to taking a stand.

We sure as hell don’t need another Shelia Kuehl do-over! Bye, Ben!

Other than seeking a wider audience, please name three things Savage has accomplished for the community in 10 years. Wishing and doing are two different entities.

Frankly I really don’t care about qualifications. If Trump was able to somehow function as president of the US, I sincerely believe Savage could handle a part time job on a small city council. Ultimately my interest is only on how someone will vote and whether their interests align with mine (unlike Shyne, Horvath and Erickson).

Hard pass. Those “credentials” are ridiculous. How long was this internship with Arlen Spector? A couple of months? Maybe a little longer, but not even a little impressive at his age.
