A West Hollywood chiropractor accused by sheriff’s investigators of sexually assaulting a woman in his office vehemently denied the allegation through his attorney Tuesday.
“Dr. (David) Mottahedeh denies the allegations in this matter. They have absolutely no merit,” attorney Lou Shapiro said in a statement.
Los Angeles County sheriff’s officials on Monday said the 58-year-old Mottahedeh was arrested last week in connection with an alleged July 14 sexual assault at his office in the 8900 Block of Sunset Boulevard.
Mottahedeh was subsequently released on bail and given a tentative court date of Sept. 15, according to the sheriff’s department.
“Based on the nature of the allegation and Mr. Mottahedeh’s access to patients, detectives believe there may be additional unidentified victims,” the LASD said.
Shapiro, however, said Mottahedeh is a family man who looks forward to clearing his name.
“He loves his family and is happily married with 2-year-old twins, a boy and a girl,” the attorney said. “He holds himself to the highest professional and ethical standards. He is presumed innocent and looks forward to vindicating his name and reputation through the legal process.”
