UPDATED: ‘Bone-headed’ Lindsey Horvath mural snags Robertson Lane development

City Council tabled the move to amend a zoning map Monday in the wake of code violations generated by the mural of Councilmember Lindsey Horvath painted illegally on the property under development by Faring at Santa Monica Blvd. and Robertson Lane, known as the Robertson Lane Hotel project and the Treehouse project.

Councilmember John D’Amico described the mural, paid for by a PAC supporting Horvath’s run for County Supervisor, as “bone-headed,” and assailed Faring for their handling of the situation.

“That is the most blatant, impossible-to-understand move that I have seen in my many years of being involved with this city,” D’Amico said

“It violated our election rules. (Faring) laughed off the requirement that they do something about it until it became a hubris moment in which the tidal wave that they were laughing at crashed around them. And suddenly, we’re left with today’s decision — to not move forward with a critical part of the city’s development future. I really hope that someone over there loses their job because this kind of bone-headedness is what we’ve come to expect from that developer. I think it’s time for them to be the big boys. We always thought they might do the hard work of showing up. Doing the construction and doing the development the city wants and not playing with us and our time.”

The mural was painted last month and received code violations shortly thereafter. As a matter of process and law, a business would not be allowed to receive a certificate of occupancy if there were an outstanding code violation.

It was painted over this week, but in conversations with WEHOville Publisher Larry Block prior to City Council’s Monday night meeting, Vice President Jake Stevens shared Faring’s intention to repaint the mural in a smaller size to conform to city code.

The item to amend the Robertson Specific Plan will return to City Council after the Nov. 8 election.

I support Faring and what they are building but I do NOT support a mural supporting Horvath…whatever the size. If they repaint it, I will not support future Faring projects.

Here’s hoping she fails up so WeHo will be rid of her.

better yet, hope she fails completely and we are rid of her and the county dodges a bullet. Currently, she trailing way behind.

Some “stains” just won’t come out no matter how hard you scrub or paint over…it just lingers like a herpes sore on your lip (while out looking for tricks). It takes cleansing with bleach and lots of new blood on the City Council.
Horvath, Shyn and Erickson are herpes sores on the residents of West Hollywood

Meanwhile, the LA Times endoresed her for Supervisor. A bigger budget to do more damage IMO. WeHo is not one bit better because of her. Plain and simple. Look to all the bright lights from the super bright billboards that line the Sunset, seen from Fountain, the bus shelters along our major roads. None of these contribute to a better quality of life. Sidewalks and curbs around town need repair. We need left arrow lights in certain places. Now, imagine, all that, on a county wide scale. No thank you.

Lindsay’s position in West Hollywood over the years may seem futile compared to LA County Supervisor!
Correct? Can you imagine the corrupt nature she has instilled and moving into
a LA County Supervisor position.
To make this worse, she is backed by her predecessor that’s fresh under investigation, approved by a judge for bribery and what else.
We must make sure her political career is over with Ericsson and Shyne. That’s why we are here.

Yup. Once she is gone, we have to focus on making sure Erickson and Shyne are a one and done. They can not be allowed to further ruin our city. AND we have to make sure Byers and Oliver are not elected.

Faring has just made enemies of the majority of West Hollywood voters. Nice way to do business in a small town.

Yeah, that was a huge error in judgement on their part. They are going to have a hard time getting residents to speak in support of their future projects.

This developer is the enemy elite. Don’t pass any project he wants in West Hollywood. Tell him to get lost and take Horvath’s billboards with him.🧐

What a relief to not have that unavoidable distraction every time I make a left turn onto Robertson. Let’s hope better decisions are made on that property moving forward. (Like just leaving it white until it’s knocked down)

Lindsey always seems to find a way to be ticky-tacky. Kind of like a snide, vindictive grade school child. She should not become a member of the BOS, she’s already shown she’s not qualified to handle serious mature matters of government without indulging her own personal emotional demands, again, like a vindictive child. Lindsey wasn’t right for West Hollywood, she’s certainly not right for a county supervisor

Wow. WEHOville should summarize this Politico article for their readers.

Should read it yourself. It’s very interesting. What it does not say is how the LAT was pressured to endorse Ms Horvath in a quid pro quo.

It may not say that explicitly, but it’s sending everyone into a twitter tailspin.

Nice try. I’m using Twitter to observe behavior, not gather facts about a particular issue. Go back to slaying the runway, or whatever it is.

I don’t really frequent twitter much- is a tweet with 14 likes and a few replies considered “sending everyone into a twitter tailspin”?

Please observe and report back.

An article was explicit about Mejia.

The piece has some people in a tailspin.

Bad for the LAT rep to throw it away on a small-time local pol.
