West Hollywood City Council slipped a pay raise for themselves onto the consent calendar of this week’s meeting, guaranteeing it passed with limited attention and no opportunity for objections.
WeHo gives each of the five councilmembers a monthly compensation of $1,422. California law allows for a 5 percent raise each year; the last time they got a raise was right after the Nov. 2020 elections.
The city will now pay them $1,568 per month, a total of $18,813 to each annually. The change won’t come into effect until after the Nov. 8, 2022, election.
In addition to the salary, city councilmembers also receive $150 for phone expenses, and $100 for miscellaneous office and transportation expenses. They also also receive medical contributions and other health and welfare benefits, such as life and disability insurance. Councilmembers also receive reimbursement for actual and necessary travel expenses incurred in the performance of official duties.
OUTRAGEOUS! Being on City Council should not be for the MONEY! It should ONLY be for Civi Duty. Bitches do not want more sheriff’s but have the audacity to vote themselves a raise! RUDE! SHAME!

If anything I’d say these salaries are disturbingly low when compared to the salaries for planners and communications people for WEHO. Maybe the ladder is what you’re talking about? Does anyone realize we pay the city manager the better part of $10K a week? He himself has assistants that make between $2 and $5K a week? The city spends more on repairs to the junk parking machine at city hall then we do on councils’ costs.

Who ever voted for Prop 22 in 2020 voted for rideshare/delivery drivers to get a pay cut. Newsom was neutral on this landmark assault on labor. WeHo city council was quiet. Erickson, who’s supposedly is employed by Planned Parenthood, spends most of his time flying around to 25-30 meetings pushing his woke agenda. Sepi Shyne, obviously is not a big hit lawyer, cuz she does the same thing. They need the extra money, they need the medical insurance.
The only one that deserves a raise is Meister. She’s also the only one that listens to the people and is a true public servant in every sense. The others are just political hacks looking to make a name for themselves. They could care less with the people that put them in their seats want.

West Hollywood appears to cultivate a cottage industry of self serving enterprises couched in council and or city staff positions. Nothing is as it seems. What would be welcome is a flock of whistle blowers otherwise there will be no there there, or here.
