Suspect arrested at Vaseline Alley after altercation with deputies

A suspect with a Felony No Bail warrant attacked sheriff’s deputies as they tried to arrest him Monday night at Vaseline Alley in West Hollywood, according to Sgt. Jo Warren of the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department.

The suspect, a middle-aged male, shouted obscenities as deputies placed him in handcuffs. He apparently sustained injuries during the altercation and was spirited away from the crime scene in an ambulance. No law enforcement personnel were injured.

Nearly a dozen police vehicles, a fire truck and an ambulance swarmed Vaseline Alley, the quasi-official name for the parking lot and alley way that run behind the businesses on the south side of Santa Monica Blvd. between Havenhurst and La Jolla avenues. The strip is a well-established and somewhat legendary locale for gay men cruising for sex. It is unknown if the subject was there for that purpose.

What a shame… Vaselin Alley? For gay men looking for sex? Disgusting and repulsive.

I could absolutely swear that the City of West Hollywood officially recognized the name “Vaseline Alley” a while back. Did they ever put up signage ? I’m asleep by 9pm these days 🥸 although I suppose I could stroll through or promenade down the alley during the day for research purposes of course.

Ha ha the alley still has some action but the constant LASD patrols at night scared people off. You’re better off cruising Poinsettia Park after midnight…

I love that Vaseline Alley made the news!!! Memories light the corners of my mind…misty watercolor memories of the way it was…scattered pictures of the condoms left behind…

Ugh! Another fine high profile event to put this slum of a city on the map.

12 sheriff’s cars??? That’s ludicrous. Did it take 12+ sheriffs to “catch” him? What an awful waste of resources! BTW, I didn’t see any blue bicycles. Where are the “Goodwill Ambassadors” when you need them? lol What a circus

Yeah when I need a cop they take an hour to arrive – if at all. I guess they’re all focusing on Vaseline Alley!

12 police vehicles??? That’s ludicrous. What did the 12+ or more officers do there? Did it take all 12+ officers to “catch” the guy? What a pathetic waste of valuable resources. I didn’t see any blue bicycles. Where are the “Goodwill Ambassadors” when you need them? lol

The guy who was caught did have a warrant out for his arrest,so deputies were probably on his track and found him.It would be kind of dumb to be cruising with a warrant on your head, but I guess some guys can’t wait. I find it funny the designation “Vaseline Alley” is on Google Maps.It is not a park or place of business,so I am wondering if someone suggested it as a destination for fun.I am surprised Google Maps allowed the designation.Maybe someone at Google knew what it was and allowed it or someone else allowed it thinking it was some… Read more »

A scene from “Making Love” from back in 1982 was as shot in that alley. Michael Ontkean is in the scene. The audience, which was mostly dudes, howled with laughter.

I meant “…which were mostly dudes,…”. Oh, and another scene from the same movie has Ontkean driving west on SMB near the Holloway turnoff near IHOP. While he’s waiting for the traffic light to change he sees two guys on a motorcycle. One of those guys worked at the Blue Parrot which is now Revolver.

Blue Parrot. Omg, forgot about that. Next door was Four Star Mary, which became Mickey’s. Seth Green’s band on “Buffy the Vampire Slayer “TV show was named Dingo’s Ate My Baby. But in real life, the gay band that provided the music he was lip syncing to was named Four Star Mary after that very club. They were such a great band, too.

The movie “The Morning After” from 1986 had Bruce Vilanch playing a bartender in the Four Star Bar. Jane Fonda was the lead.

My mom’s dear friend, Frances Bergen (Mrs. Edgar, Candice’s mom) played Jane’s high-society mother-in-law, in that campy, old-Warner Bros.-style flick. She told us she had to “supply” her own Mary McFadden, Fortuny-inspired evening frock. Ohhhh the humanity! 😯

I looked at the Queer maps link. It shows a still from “The Morning After” but it’s dated 1968. That’s wrong. It was 1986. The only film that Sidney Lumet directed in L.A.

The movie “Partners” from 1982 had filmed 2 scenes in the Blue Parrot with John Hurt. Ryan O’Neal was the lead. Story was about 2 cops playing gay dudes in an undercover operation to find a murderer of Gay dudes.

Oh we are so much more safe now according to John Erickson and Sepi Shyne. Give West Hollywood residence a break. You political hacks have done nothing along with Lindsay Horvath but make this a very dangerous place to live. Of course on top of that we have a pro criminal left wing Democrat DA. All of these dregs have been subsidized by the dreadful just off the boat George Soros. The worst place to live in West Hollywood is around all those bars and clubs and restaurants on the west side. It attracts every thug and criminal in Los… Read more »

You are ridiculous. Your post is a mishmash of all the Trumpish sayings thrown together. First of all, it is “residents, not residence”. Then you throw in “pro-criminal left wing Democrats”. Democrats are NOT pro-criminal. Then there is the ever-present George Soros. Give it a break. Your posts are almost laughable. Wait. They ARE laughable.
