Was it due to George Hamilton setting the tanning device on high again?!?

A little off topic but something I’ve been curious about for years…does anyone know what Totem (that little building between the old BofA and the old tanning salon) is? One day while walking by, a gentleman was entering the gate and I asked him what the place was. His response was “offices” and because I was so excited he actually gave me an answer, it wasn’t until i started to walk away that I thought, “wait, but what kind of offices, what do people actually do there?” So I turned to ask my follow up questions but by now the… Read more »

This building has been owned by the family of notable Hollywood Director George Stevens, Jr. who not only directed fine films but was a credible participant in D-Day. One wonders how his integrity has been impaired by the management of this property. The elementary day care center has often felt the brunt of their behavior, now a doubly defaced potential landmark building in a fairly prominent location adjacent to the French Market which is under restoration plans by Faring.

So interesting. First the historic architectural elements were “accidentally” removed resulting from a faulty over the counter roofing permit and now a mysterious fire. The building at 8001-8005 was nominated as a contributor to the West Hollywood commercial survey representing the Spanish Colonial Style. The owners rep petitioned the Historic Resources Commission to have the nomination rejected and confirmed plans to develop the property.

Something in your way? Make it disappear. 🙄🙄🙄

Not only that. But it’s going to be a MASSIVE several story pot place with NO parking. Only valet who will use area local lots (like where???) as the new owners believe their clients will ride share. Who did they pay off at City Hall to get this passed?

Dear Mrs. Accidents, it was most likely the work of angry drag Queens. I have heard that the next time someone appeals a housing project they are going to start picketing in front of their house/condo/apt. I can’t blame them, given that I have never heard of any Trans person getting affordable housing in Weho. And, the prior owners who re-roofed the building sold it a while ago to the Pot people that Tom speaks about. But he is right to be concerned. In the somewhat words of a former planning Commissioner: “What will happen when there is a big… Read more »

I am so happy and fortunate to have lived in West Hollywood when it was a beautiful oasis of beautiful men and fun times and it was so safe you could walk drunk down Santa Monica Boulevard at 2 in the morning without fear. I’ve met and done it with big time celebrities and pornstars when WeHo was like a Hollywood movie for gay men from the ’80s to about 2015. Wham’s “Take Me to the Edge of Heaven” should have been the theme song for the city.
