I voted for Lauren. I would vote for her twice if she’d drop the ridiculous land acknowledgment.

How are those community Ambassadors working out for you Lauren? Crimes up 137% I wouldn’t vote you in for dog catcher.

Lauren voted against the proposal.

Lauren did support cutting the Sheriff count or the goodwill ambassadors. She was in fact very vocal against the measure. Do a bit of research before commenting, it might help you get that dog catcher job.

Did “not” support.

This is a targeted crime, not random. The sheriff should have a sub station in this area of Sunset. The hotels, restaurants and businesses cater to very high net worth people and a visible sheriff presence is key. Don’t get me going on the goodwill ambassador program. They would have run the other way.

You guys have little concept of reality re CC/public safety.

There are no fewer sheriffs in Weho today, yesterday, last month, or in the future, yet.
If you have an issue w/crime, call the WeHo sheriff’s office at (310) 855-8850.

The West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station and West Hollywood City officials are working hard to safeguard residents and visitors from crimes …

In all due respect, that is not completely accurate. The City reduced the number of Sheriff’s during COVID to sixty. So we have the same number of deputies today as we did two years ago when our streets where empty and our bars and restaurants closed, even though our streets are now open for business and packed. Not restoring the number of deputies to pre-COVID levels is in effect a cut in deputies.

Criminals love progressive policies. And those policies are having a devastating effect on West Hollywood. Thank you, mayor for this update.

Applying your logic, the prisons in Red states are empty because there are no criminals in Red states. They’re too afraid to commit crimes, so they don’t. As Gov. Abbot of Texas said, there will be no rapes in Texas after the abortion ban. Easy peasy.

What a load of crap. That is simply not true. This was a violent crime that happens everywhere there is not enough police activity.

West Hollywood’s deficits have set the stage for this appalling activity. Wait until all the cannabis establishments are open and thriving.

Time to sue the Woke SHE – Shyne, Erickson and Horvath for Breach of Public Trust. It is obvious Horvath will be history and not elected to LA County Supervisor. But we are STUCK with the dreadful Shyne and Erickson! Get rid of them now. Sue or recall.

Can’t some attorney step-in for cause and sue these three who voted to de-fund, as a Class-Action Suit, please? The public needs accountability in their Public Officials. Start teaching them lessons that before you run, you had best weight the consequences— like any company you are running -except this is far more important.

ANYONE can be targeted in West Hollywood which has a bulls eye on its back thanks to inept woke Shyne, Erickson & Horvath including their cohorts seeking council positions. A sad and sorry situation.

Erickson & Meister voted no & were against the “defund the sheriff” proposal & reducing the number of sheriffs in WeHo. The other 3, Shyne, Horvath & D’Amico voted yes

Thanks for the correction.
Substitute D’Amico for Erickson but Erickson has a minimum of good sense in the broader scheme.

I saw this on an international news station this a.m. Not a good image for West Hollywood. This is one of the most horrendous, cruel & evil acts of public thuggery I’ve ever seen. Also a good example of what an act of idiocy it was for 3 members of the CC to approve a reduction in sheriffs & an increase in “Goodwill Ambassadors”. This is on them

I support the Mayor giving crucial updates – Thank You Lauren – you have my vote.
But WeHo desperately needs the Public Safety Commission to get going on some sort of WeHo security camera system. WeHo is way behind in comparison to other cities and any consultant on fighting crime today will tell you security cameras are essential – especially since 75% of crimes are committed with the usage of a vehicle.I have been communicating this since 2019.

Per LA Times:

The robbery was captured by surveillance video that showed the attacker, who appeared to be wearing a ski mask, exit a grey Infiniti while brandishing a handgun and run toward the victim, who was getting out of his car in a parking lot, according to the footage that was obtained by KNBC and KTLA.

They were captured on private security cameras. We need to expand on what property owners have installed to monitor and protect their private property.

Give us a description of the people involved, please.

In what condition is the guy who was hit with the vehicle?

Like Shakira’s hips, the video don’t lie. Your answers are in the video. The victim was moving but seems in bad condition from that sickening car hit.

How is it probability when only .05% of the demographic you’re trying to be racist towards commit crime?

You’re assuming an awful lot. Who is .05% of the population? The racism may be on your part.

Or, put another way, who overwhelmingly commits most of these types of crimes? Maybe that’s what I mean by probability.

Many thanks to Mayor Meister for the update. I saw the video clip of the incident and was shocked how brazen the robber was.The robber was frantic and it looked like he was able to get something from the victim.Thankfully.the female driver who was stopped across the street was able to assist.
