Hertzberg concedes race to Horvath

Sen. Bob Hertzberg conceded the race for County Supervisor to his opponent, WeHo Councilmember Lindsey Horvath, as votes continued to be counted.

As of Thursday, Horvath was 19,542 votes ahead of Hertzberg, with a total of 227,561 to his 208,019.

Hertzberg released a statement to his supporters Thursday.

“With the most recent ballot update, it is clear to me that Lindsey Horvath will be our next County Supervisor. I want to offer my most sincere and humble congratulations to Supervisor-Elect Horvath. The challenges that we face as a County are extraordinary and it will take someone with Lindsey’s work ethic to be successful.

I believe, with every fiber of my being, in the honor of public service. My decision to run for Los Angeles County Supervisor was not a political stepping stone– I ran because I felt the county needed my experience and approach to public service- I work across party lines, I tackle the toughest problems, and I work around the clock until we’ve found a solution.

I don’t have the words to thank everyone who worked so hard on my behalf. First and foremost- my amazing family, who supported me on this journey. I want to also thank my many friends, elected leaders, working families, and the women and men who make the county work. Thank you to the Governor, Lt. Governor, State Treasurer, Attorney General, US Senator, and so many of my colleagues and friends in all corners of the community.

I have met so many wonderful people from Chatsworth, San Fernando, Westlake Village, Hidden Hills, Agoura Hills, Calabasas, Malibu, Santa Monica, Pacific Palisades, Topanga, West Hollywood, Brentwood, Venice and all corners of the San Fernando Valley. On my first day in office, I promised to work just as hard on my last day, and that’s exactly what I intend to do on November 30th.

I want to again wish Supervisor-elect Horvath the most heartfelt congratulations and success on her journey.”

Shocking how fooled the voters were by Horvaths BS

I congratulate Bob Hertzberg on his grace, manners, class and humility. His opponent, who lied her way to office, lacks all four. I have one question for Lindsey: Where’s the data underlying your claim to having reduced homelessness by 80% in your “community” (a/k/a West Hollywood)? Actually a second question: Are you moving? Please?

Meanwhile Ms. Horvath never exhibited any example of gainful employment as an “Advertising Executive”. Is it possible that her Planning Commissioner was providing cover? Researching her “resume” on several occasions always amounted to “0”.

Ms Horvath has humbly accepted the honor of being a supervisor in the Cunty of Los Angeles. Her humility moved me to tears. But I was saddened that she did not thank Dr Schlong for endorsing her through his dying newspaper the Los Angeles Times aka the El Segundo Times. Rumor is she will be taking her boy toy John Erickson with her. Most likely her chief of staff. What a wonderful team they will make. Again, a combination of true humility and a proving that anybody could be elected to office in the USA. Even some gender studies major… Read more »

I think the single most reprehensible thing about liar/weho denier Horvath, are her vacant promises of solving the homeless crisis. And the dummies who voted for her, and believed her, are in for a rude awakening. Lightweight two-faced Horvath has no plan for anything, other than lying her way to some political career, and appealing to the brain-dead. Promising that she, and she alone can solve the homeless crisis, was beyond Trumpian. She will throw more good money at the homeless, when the taxpayers would rather it went to police, healthcare, schools, libraries, roads, infrastructure and other things that actually… Read more »

I was really surprised at Hertzberg’s lightweight campaign, which was virtually nonexistent. I got one last-minute mailer & that was it, which was so generic that it had no impact or encouragement at all. I got a few mailers from Lindsey that did indeed make strong statements & provoked thoughts & ideas in one way or another. I saw her interviewed on TV numerous times & of course her LATimes endorsement was probably the clincher. To me, it’s like Hertzberg didn’t even try. Considering his chequered political background, his visibility as a long-time public servant & his obvious name recognition… Read more »

She only beat him by 20,000 votes. So whatever he did, or did not do, he got a lot of votes. Obviously not enough. But it’s not like she won in a landslide.

I bet the women on the board of supervisors are breathing a huge sigh of relief that “Huggy Bear” Hertzberg is going down.

They should hold their breath and hold on to their resumes because Lindsey Hirvath will find a way to take credit for everything they have ever done and every thought they will have in the future!🙄 Just the girl next door!🤣

I’m sorry, 3rd District. You’ll learn the hard way, just as we did in West Hollywood. Horvath is two-faced, a grifter, a lair and uses everyone she encounters and ultimately stands for nothing.

Leaving her poison behind her in the form of Chelsea Byers and the entrenched John Erickson and Sepi Syne. They would all fit in very nicely with Trumps speech tonight that drones on and on filled with misstatements and outright untruths.

Indeed. I had such high hopes for Hertzberg and his expertise and knowledge.

As soon as she was endorsed by both the L.A. Times and Planned Parenthood I knew she would win. And good for her. She is an extremely effective campaigner. Highly personable too. When people meet her, they like her. She’ll soon be involved in national politics.

Don’t know her as a person, but as a politician, she does not deserve any kind words. She lacks judgment, leadership skills and a backbone. She endorsed Gascon and then promptly removed his endorsement of her from her website when he became unpopular. She was on the WEHO city council but removed any reference to Weho from her bio in order to appeal to Valley Voters. She’s a dim wit who voted to reduce the number of sheriff deputies during a time of rising crime. She appointed a 20-something anti-public safety psycho to the public safety committee to get her… Read more »

The only thing of substance in your comment was that you “don’t know her as a person.” It’s also quite enlightening. Because countless people DO know her…and that’s EXACTLY why she won, despite being significantly outspent by her opponent. She has now won THREE consecutive times she’s been on the ballot. Sorry, but that’s the exact opposite of your incorrect description of her.

I suspect that people who are not from West Hollywood turned to the Los Angeles Times for their recommendations. Why would anybody assume that the LA Times was involved with a dirty deal, even if had not been illegal, involving this race

One vital omission: Lindsey Horvath theoretically abandoned the city she claimed to elevate.

It will be interesting to see actually how many voters went for LH. Folks outside West Hollywood would not have connected the dots and only took their cue from the LA Times endorsement. It was a risky and deceitful move by Horvath which in time may hopefully come back to haunt her.

The voters who are not from Weho who read the LA Times endorsement don’t know about her abandonment. And they don’t keep up with local Weho news. All they know is that the LA times endorsed her. I really believe that’s where the votes are coming from

The ballot harvesting machine does what it is directed to do from on high. They asked for Horvath, and it is delivering that result.

Dear Wacky,
You are absolutely right! George Soros has spent billions going into small cities & funding these candidates through unions like Unite Here….theres sooooo many and they having lots of money to pay people to crunch the numbers! I was watching on TV the people counting the ballots & asked myself, “why is there not one person as a Poll watcher walking up & down the aisles peaking over these people while are counting?”It would be a deterrent at best but oh no, not here in LA, they TRUST EVERYBODY!

The best bit is it’s perfectly legal now. Just like the aforementioned Hungarian funded lawmakers and DA campaigns to make crime legal, they did the same for ballot rigging. And we clap and cheer about how democracy is saved
