Hate crimes against LGBTQ+ community are soaring in L.A. County

Hate crimes are at their highest level in almost 20 years, a new report from the L.A. County Commission on Human Relations reveals.

Hate crimes leapt from 641 in 2020 to 786 in 2021, a staggering 23 percent increase that’s the largest on record since 2002.

More hate crimes took place in the Metro Service Planning Area, which includes West Hollywood, than any other area of the county.

Transphobic attacks saw a 93 percent rate of violence, the highest, followed by homophobic attacks at 89 percent.

Attacks related to sexual orientation shot up 15 percent, now comprising 17 percent of all hate crimes. Gay men were the most frequent targets.

A worrisome surge in religious-motivated offenses against Jews is also noted in the report.

“The rise in hate crimes across Los Angeles County is deeply distressing,” Fourth District Supervisor Janice Hahn, told CBS News.  “Our most vulnerable neighbors are facing enough challenges, and now have to worry about a greater risk of being attacked or harassed because of who they are. That is unacceptable.”

The Board plans to respond to the trends with a new marketing campaign, a public violence hotline and comprehensive assistance for victims.

Channel 2 did a report on all the great things WeHo city council is doing to prevent crime. They mainly featured the Ambassador program as a seller new way of fighting crime. They did not mention that the armed sheriff staff was cut in order to justify this. Of course they interviewed Shepi as the creator of this majorly successful program. Yes she looked like a absolute mess and spouted nothing but lies. I’m not even going to get started on what the County has in store once Queen Horvath gets going.

Could Sepi be making her own media calls? Would not be surprised as she also appeared on Channel 7 looking angry and a mess. Not a welcoming look for West Hollywood. Very problematic.

It would be great if many in WeHo would graduate or evolve from Peter Panville to a respectful, responsible community and eliminate all the pettiness characterized as racist, sexist, and misogynist behavior. Finding ” theoretical sanctuary” in West Hollywood is not an opportunity to virtue signal or act like an idiot. Please grow up and get on with it without thinking you are so special.

Division leads to even more division.
What happened to the idea of acceptance in West Hollywood?
Ms. Shyne, the chief complainant of these issues should resolve her anxieties on her own beyond the public arena. A very troubled individual.

Gay men have been lumped into this angry lesbian Sepi Shyne pushed LBTWA collective. Most likely the major group that had been targeted are Trans folks. Gay men should totally divorce themselves from lesbian LGTWA etc inclusive what many gay men considered just a freak show!

Gay men in Weho will never speak up or remove themselves from the alphabet mafia because that would require courage and they are cowards. As a member of the community for forty years, I simply walked away. Fasten your seatbelts; the left is moving swiftly to normalize pedophilia and gay men will bear the brunt and be targeted. Don’t trust me…look it up. MAP’s (minor attracted persons)

Who is committing these crimes? There must be descriptions on file with possibly common traits.

I believe the common trait is hatred towards the LGBTQ community. Without suspects, how are we to know what their traits are. I’d like to see how many of these incidents led to arrests.

Surely there are descriptions whether they were apprehended or not. I wonder if it might be gang members and if so, what particular gang might it be?

What ISN’T racist these days? In the last couple of days sharks and all museums have been labeled racist. At this point an accusation of racism is meaningless to me.
