According to the Wikipedia, WeHo is 84% caucasian and 0.3% African American. It is old data, from 2010, but I’m guessing the percentages are relatively the same. I’m not really sure what the point of this article is. It is a free market, and African Americans are more than welcome to open a business here.

I’m noticing a lot more black people who appear to live in WeHo, walking their dogs, carrying groceries, etc., within the last couple years.

I believe Dubb’s Organic Coffee on Fountain near Laurel is owned by a black man named Wally. He’s always really nice.

There is a Black owned and operated beauty shop at Genesee and Santa Monica. Wehoville should interview the owner and get her story.

There is a barber shop on the southwest corner of Fountain and La Brea that appears to have only black customers, so it would presumably be black owned.

So, what’s yer point? Do you really think that if a black person wanted to open a business in WeHo, and they had the means to do it, as anyone would have to have, they would be denied? By whom? Are you suggesting we recruit some black people to start a business here and give them some incentives to do so? How patronizing and condescending that would be! The market disciplines itself and it works wonderfully well until some guilt ridden do-gooder (usually some government entity) comes in and distorts what the market would have done. Most businesses fail within… Read more »

Perfectly said. Thank you for this. Now I won’t have to try to figure out how to say it myself. One might also ask “Are there enough Latino businesses in WH?” “Enough Asians?” The question is open-ended & ludicrous

This is such an insipid accusation as if ANYONE is being stopped from trying to create a business opportunity. The problem with opening up a business in West HOllywood is City COuncil and City Hall and all the BS rules and regs. The comment is just more of social justice warriors, diversity, equity and inclusion garbage that the WOKE (including Shyne & Erickson) are trying to white guilt shame. ANYONE CAN OPEN A BUSINESS HERE. STOP ENTERTAINNG THESE KEYBOARD WARRIORS. Can we just stop? West Hollywood is not Nazi Germany shutting down the Jewish business owners. This comment is only… Read more »

Of course there is!! Don’t you remember we have Jonathan Wilson, our resident black CEO, living in WeHo? Why wouldn’t his company operate out of this city?

Are there any female-identifying transgender Filipina/o/x pediatric orthodontists in WeHo? Cue the response and hate from the intolerant straight-jacketed group-think toxic ideologues, please.

I vote this as being the dumbest question of the year, and it’s only February. Should that be the goal of the city, to have more black-owned businesses? I suspect this is a way of making people feel guilty, and ultimately more loose in giving out the expected $5 million in “reparations”, as a reward for other peoples’ legitimate suffering 200 years ago.
