The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department apprehended a man and a woman who were seen pickpocketing cell phones inside Heart, a nightclub in the Rainbow District of West Hollywood.

The establishment posted a video of the incident to its Instagram account. The suspects are shown being led out of the building, handcuffed with their faces pressed against the sidewalk, and finally taken into custody. We see at least five Sheriff’s Department vehicles in the background, as well as a parking enforcement officer standing idly by, watching the melee.

Pickpocketing is a scourge of the West Hollywood nightlife scene. The sheriff and City Hall have been working for years to curb its prevalence, even deploying undercover officers. Last year, there were 576 reported pickpocket thefts and 26 arrests, according to the sheriff’s records. So far in 2023, there have been 18 reported pickpocketing incidents.

If you want to not get pickpocketed, quick and easy, put a large rubber band (twisted to double bands) around your wallet.

Makes enough friction to stop even skilled pickpockets from doing it and you not noticing

It has been 10 days now so surely their names and other information about them is available so why not print it?

Hey, Gimmeabreak, surely if the names are available please post in a comment. You seem to know more than we do about this instance and the subjects right to privacy.

And thanks to the LA District Attorney, they are probably already back out in the clubs stealing again. There are no consequences for these crimes anymore. I’m sure this is done by the same dozen people over and over again.

When did this happen? What are the names of the ….. suspects … and where are they from? Are they WeHo residents?

They should of been asked if it’s worth the week they’ll spend in jail. A few years ago I got tossed in jail protesting the WeHo Sheriffs on trumped up charges of obstruction & disorderly conduct and, they don’t allow cell phone use to blog your experience in jail to establish street cred. I did get my Halal Guys dinner from the menu choices. Warning in many parts of LA, you DON’T get this option in jail. 😱 So this pickpocket couple may be able to eat well but, they WON’T be commenting on the WEHOville ❗ 🤣

Note to the City Council. The SHERIFF nabbed the crooks…NOT Block to Block Ambassadors.

If I’m not mistaken, it appears that the Roccos Security nabbed the pickpockets. They deserve a round of applause ❗ 👏🏽

Much as I find your comment amusing, in all seriousness, we need to have the City insure that these people are prosecuted as felons which our current DA may be adverse to doing. This bust involved thousands of dollars of phones and there should be serious consequences. What is the point of spending money for security if these people will be back in the clubs next week?

Simple solution, 86 them from ALL clubs and businesses, basically all of West Hollywood which can be done via facial recognition technology that already is used to ban people who pose a threat in many places or events. I have a smart phone app from a previous employer that will run anyone’s image through a criminal & watchlist data base. Still worried about petty thieves
