Standard hotel will re-open as PUBLIC no earlier than 2024

The former Standard hotel in West Hollywood will be renovated and re-branded as the PUBLIC hotel, according to a news release.

The PUBLIC brand is owned by Ian Schrager, who along with fellow hotelier Ed Scheetz, recently purchased the Standard for $112.5 million, with an $86.7 million loan secured through iBorrow and Reuben Brothers.

The 139-room hotel will not re-open until after the loan matures in 2024, according to the lenders.

No additional details regarding the renovation were provided, but the process may prove tricky, as the building was recently granted historic preservation status by the city.

They got a loan! How long will that last? A couple of blocks east on Sunset (Billboard) Blvd., 8150 Sunset lost two loans. Now the big empty lot is up for sale by the developer Townscape.

“Public” sounds like something that should be immediately connected up to Sepi Shyne obsession with no urinal toilets.

This city is a punch line to Woke nonsense under the leadership of those dreadful political hacks on the city council.

PUBLIC? Guess they don’t know we have a homeless problem here. Schrager is usually pretty good at marketing but that name is just awful and meaningless.

Public is already a successful trendy and modern hotel in lower east side, New York.

I give it three weeks before the WeHo bleeding hearts turn it into a homeless hotel.
