I Remember Nicole 🎶 Raising Awareness while Raising the Roof 📢 #IPV

As a member of the LGBTQ+ Advisory Board, Renee Sotile worked with the Women’s Advisory Board to launch the Silent Witness Display at the V-Day event this Sunday, Feb 26, 2-4PM at West Hollywood Council Chambers. Life size silhouettes honor lives lost in acts of domestic violence. She plans to place the name Nicole Brown Simpson on one of them.

West Hollywood sponsored the award-winning, call to action music video, “I Remember Nicole” A Global Anthem Reclaiming Power Over Domestic Violence created/directed by Renee Sotile & Mj Godges.

“Nicole” is a metaphor for the highly publicized domestic violence story of Nicole Brown Simpson.

Working as a video-journalist, Sotile covered the “Trial of the Century” and never forgot the impact Nicole Brown Simpson’s death made on her. Imprinted in her mind are the shocked and heartbreaking expressions on the faces of Nicole’s family when on October 3, 1995, OJ Simpson was acquitted of murder charges for the deaths, of his ex-wife Nicole, and her friend, Ron Goldman.

Sotile and Godges say their goal behind “I Remember Nicole” is to empower victims and survivors and start conversations, and for the world to remember Nicole and all those who suffered and continue to suffer from abuse.

Chorus:

I Will Free Myself , Believe in Myself

I Will Keep Myself Safe and Whole

I Will Love Myself, Reach Out for Help

This Is What I Know, I Remember Nicole

These folks appear to be attempting to capitalize on an event without any real authenticity. It seems very strange.

This is great. But remember, silent protests are the most impactful.
