Scooters are prohibited from parking and obstructing our residential sidewalks.
If you see a scooter blocking the sidewalk in our neighborhood, please call Weho’s Scooter Pick Up Service at 213-247-7720.
The scooter will be removed from the public-right-of-way within 15 minutes. This taxpayer service is also available on the Weho App under “Scooter Issues and Feedback”.
For the last two years the City of West Hollywood has been monitoring a “scooter pilot program”.
At the March 6th City Council meeting, council members where not satisfied with the performance to date of scooter companies and their users. Prohibited activities such as sidewalk riding and dumping have not seen any improvement.
Let’s not give up our sidewalks to motorized vehicles.

HEAR, HEAR! This has become an unnecessarily distracting controversy impairing the general quality of life under the guise of making accessibility to locations in West Hollywood the main event. It is a speculative, trendy scheme of profitability without any concern for the downside. And the city staff stood by benignly, as a disconnected entity lacking responsibility for the negative results including creating a historically bad contractual arrangement with the vendors.
Further monetary benefits realized by the city o any of its council people should be looked into.

Just the way that the drivers of the scooters leave them in inappropriate spots gives you an idea HOW they are driving them with the same disrespect as where they leave them. Who cares? Nobody will hold them accountable! It would be nice to have a license plate big enough on them to take a picture so that the scooter can be reported at a specific time & day. Just went out for my walk around my block (Holloway Drive) for exercise and ran into a man and woman on a scooter on the sidewalk (is it legal to have two people on one of these?), followed by two guys on a scooter on the sidewalk, then found several on the sidewalk in front of St. Victor’s Church (a Lime scooter and a Lime bike). How do we report people riding on the sidewalk? I wish I had my phone camera at the ready the other day when this gal came zooming down Holloway Drive right toward me on the sidewalk. I told her it wasn’t legal to be on the sidewalk. She said it wasn’t safe to ride in the street. Duh?!
This has been a no-win situation for far too long. Scooters must go. I signed the petition banning them from WeHo. Who is with me?

99% of the “scooter mentality” are uncouth and do not care about anyone else’s safety, only their own convenience. The City should impound the scooters and charge a serious fine to the renter when left on a public sidewalk. It is just plain dangerous. Too bad someone has been “paid off” to allow then in WeHo in the first place

It’s a 150 lbs of dead weight. Many people outside of your universe are incapable of lifting and dragging that much weight nor should they have to.
The scooter user is required to place the scooter outside of the public-right-of-way when terminating the ride. That responsibility should not be transferred to the person pushing a stroller, using a walker, in a wheel chair or someone simply out for a walk.
BTW, 2009 called, they want their old, tired and juvenile “Karen” reference back.

City council approved a massive elderly facility on our street and there already is one. Many are in wheelchairs. How Karenish of you to assume everyone is capable of moving them.

The scooter companies have always had the technology available to identify guilty users. But no, they refuse to reveal that information. Doing so would go against their business model of rentable unaccountable and reckless joyrides that are impulsive and anonymous.

This is a classic example of lack of foresight which seems to be at an epidemic level in the City. A partial list includes: Scooter company making Millions, City making hundreds and saddled with multiple issues of liability including potential litigation. AKA development on Sunset which resulted in Brookfield Properties litigation against the city due to an ill defined meaning of “lease” in the development. Current litigation against the City due to ill defined co-living, micro-units, senior congregate care housing types in addition to variegated lease types. 1) We should require that that phone number be visible on the scooters.
2) The scooter companies should have to pay for the removal! Or pay a higher fee to operate in West Hollywood that takes that removal fee into account so the burden falls on the scooter companies.
How about NO scooters period.
Adding a phone number to the scooter will in essence indemnify the user from any responsibility whatsoever. They’ll just dump it and expect some one to call.
There already is a picture that the user has to take and send when when terminating a ride. Who at Lime is looking at those pictures? ANSWER: Nobody!
