The L.A. County Metro Board voted yesterday to extend its contract with the Sheriff’s Department, L.A.P.D. and Long Beach P.D. for another three years. County Supervisor Lindsey Horvath was the only of the 13-member board to vote against the measure.
Her rationale?
“We cannot handout tax dollars for services without knowing what we get in return,” she wrote on Twitter. “I voted NO on today’s law enforcement contract extension b/c we have no specific details regarding deployment & accountability for those agencies.”
Metro users deserve a safe & comfortable system.
We cannot handout tax dollars for services without knowing what we get in return.
I voted NO on today’s law enforcement contract extension b/c we have no specific details regarding deployment & accountability for those agencies.

West Hollywood Councilmember Chelsea Byers lauded Horvath’s move.
“Thank you @LindseyPHorvath for voting to not further our investment in failed policies,” Byers wrote.

Horvath is leading the push to draw down funding for law enforcement on the L.A. Metro in favor of security ambassadors and social service agents.
Perhaps Horvath is only following the will of the people?
A new poll on Twitter by L.A.P.D. found that more than 77 percent of respondents would prefer to have fewer cops onboard buses and trains.
Would you like to see more, less, or the same number of officers patrolling your area?

The single vote against the LAPD contract and its attractors represents Libertarian, anti- government guff.
A poll by the LAPD said 77% want fewer cops on trains and buses? I guess they did that poll in the jails.
Her rationale?
“We cannot handout tax dollars for services without knowing what we get in return,” she wrote on Twitter. “I voted NO on today’s law enforcement contract extension b/c we have no specific details regarding deployment & accountability for those agencies.”
Now if she and her idiot friends would just use this reasoning on the wasting of BILLIONS dollars on homeless policies.
Clearly someone in Oxford is still pulling Horvath’s strings.
pandering to the stupid elements of society. soon all the producers (who know them—-they create businesses and hire people) will all be gone.
there’s no reason to run a business in LA with the high taxes and general lawlessness…..when TX and others are rolling out the carpet for you.
At least she is owning the fact and still was elected.
Hovarth working hard to be as useless in LA as she was in Weho. Total phony.
I wish she would just say that she wants to abolish law enforcement. It’s never truly been about the contract. Why play games?
Oh yes, lets make safety on transit a political football.
You want accountability? You’re a Supervisor. Demand it. You want agency cooperation? Demand it.
Just don’t make those who rely on the system to get around pay for your grandstanding by having to put up with a system that’s even more dangerous. They aren’t there just for a photo-op with security back-up.
I’ll take Miss Horvath seriously when I see her boarding the 304 in front of WeHo City Hall on her way to Metro Headquarters. Show us the bus pass Lindsey!
What is the 304?
Horvath & Byers are extremists. Their radical votes jeopardize the safety of all law abiding citizens who are demanding more police presence, not less. I just hope that while riding the metro they never find themselves in need of police because their security ambassadors are not going to be able to help them should they find themselves in a life-threatening situation.
The good news is, while she could have a big impact on policy in weho, she is meaningless in this bigger and more diverse group. She is a one and done supervisor I think.
Time to wake up Ms. Horvath, you are seriously over your head.
Wow. Does she even believe her own crap? Horvath and her ilk are truly dangerous. Now the others know what they’re dealing with.
