The Faun’s Daughter nursery hosted a Pua Hawaiian Marketplace on Saturday at its location at 517 N. La Cienega in West Hollywood
The Marketplace featured second generation lei maker Duane Puhi, who was born in Honoka’a and raised in Waimea Hawaii on Hawaii Island. Growing up he helped his Tutu Wahine (grandmother) sew lei in the *ku’i style. Her specialty was the colorful akulikuli lei.
Through hula he was taught another style called wili (twisting method) used in hula kaiko and hula auna, apprenticing under master lei makers and hula teachers Kumu Hula Jason, Debbie Costa and Buzzy Histo.
Puhi taught traditional Hawaiian lei-making workshops during the event.
Lovely event. Thank you for covering it.
Sweet!👏😊😊
