Joshua Findley named as suspect who escaped police standoff in WeHo

The suspect on the run from the sheriff’s department after a massive, unsuccessful standoff in one of West Hollywood’s most populous areas on Friday has been identified.

Deputies have named Joshua Findley, a 31-year-old Hispanic male standing 6′ tall and weighing 210 lbs., as the man who allegedly fired multiple shots inside a West Hollywood apartment complex Friday, injuring a woman in an adjacent unit.

The Sheriff’s Department, assisted by LAPD and Beverly Hills PD, deployed dozens of police units, armored vehicles and even a helicopter to the scene, only to find out 10 hours later that Findley was not, as they thought, barricaded in his apartment.

Findley has black hair and brown eyes, and he has tattoos on his face, neck, arms and legs. He has two outstanding warrants from unrelated crimes. If you have any information on him or his whereabouts, you are urged to call 310-855-8850 and speak to Detective Cusiter or Detective Martinez.

The shooting was reported about 8:15 a.m. at the building at Santa Monica Boulevard and La Brea Avenue, according to the sheriff’s department. A sheriff’s spokesman told KNX News at the scene that the woman — in her 50s — was shot twice, once in the upper body and once in the lower extremities by bullets that passed through the wall of her apartment

Captain Moulder delivered a very long shaggy dog story about the non resolution of this incident at CC last night in his best PR manner. One wonders how his LASD will handle an active shooter incident in the public venues of the City. Not so confident.🙄

Must be very comforting for all Dylan residents that this guy (and heaven knows who else there) passed all the credit checks at lease signing. What’s up with that?

There was a time when we had to have a background check, income verification, as well as good references from last address, to get an apartment anywhere in Los Angeles & WeHo. All bets are off the table as it is considered discriminatory now! Look at what NYC did…..all you have to do is have first & last month, no background check etc,,,etc otherwise the landlord will be fined very heavily for doing what they have always done until that law recently got passed. It will happen here as well. Homeowners, Landlords beware what’s coming down the pike of the… Read more »

It’s not. Most apartments currently want more info than you even listed. I know this because I just rented an apartment.

They still run a background check, credit check, need pay stubs or bank statements if self employed (sometimes a tax return), past apartment references, and a security deposit.

you got into building where they are still doing what I have always experienced but trust me…it’s down the pike & coming to WeHo & LA very soon if not already in the huge buildings like Avalon, Dylan, Dominion, & The Huxley here on the Eastside. I know people that are in those buildings & many have told me that they have gotten very slippery in who they are renting to now. Some people are coming in with 6 months cash upfront & making deals….I have heard it all!

Oh yeah. 600 deposit and can pay rent on a credit card with one month free? Anyone with a credit card can get in.

They’ve tried the same thing with me a few times too but, shortly after given notice by a process server, they cashed my rent and security deposit, giving me my keys❗😎

There was a time of de jure discrimination were nonwhites were prohibited from renting regardless of income or assets. Women would ONLY be considered if they had a husband or planned on getting one soon and, sexual orientation or any variation would not only get you denied an apartment but get you incarcerated. The laissez-faire tyrannical oppression that enabled the wealthy a free hand to discriminate encountered serious setbacks in the Civil Rights era but, more work needs to be done❗

You’re right. I should have written “Very Hot”. I wasn’t passing judgement on the alleged horrific crime. Just that if I were his cellmate, at least I would have something pretty to look at.

Would you like him just as much if he were a Left-Wing Antigun, LGBTQ+ Rights, Social Justice Activist as opposed to a violent criminal❓
