Sunday, April 30th was Sprouts last day on Santa Monica Blvd. in WeHo. The Phoenix, Arizona-based chain of chain was founded in 2002 and has approximately 400 stores.
Sprouts WeHo opened in July of 2019 at 8550 Santa Monica Blvd just across from the Ramada Hotel. The area was an active part of town which included the 24 hour fitness and the big Gay Starbucks and other retail shops including a Trader Joes across the street. Shortly thereafter 24-Fitness announced their closing. Soon after the Covid 19 Pandemic hit, the Wing and Gay Starbucks, Cousin’s Lobster vacated the premises. Capital Drugs also gave up half of their space that housed the Powerzone.
The departure of Sprouts WeHo is one of the 11 closings announced by the chain. The West Hollywood location is one of three underperforming stores in California that are now permanently shut down.

Hopefully, new opportunities will arise to fill the space left behind by Sprouts and revitalize the area for residents and visitors alike.
Unsurprising. It was always a bad location — practically right next to Trader Joe’s – with a confusing, semi-awful parking situation.
Unfortunately, it has developed so that it ends on April 30.
I wonder what it will become. This building seems to have had a hard time keeping tenants. Maybe the rent is too high.
I hate to see any business go under, but I never really understood why this was there. It was very pricey, and had one of the weirdest parking situations around. The only time I’ve been there in the past 3 years was last month when I heard it was closing to use up a gift card I was given in 2020. I guess if I lived on Rugby and had an emergency need for overpriced kale it was good, but..
Sprouts has another WeHo location at the northwest corner of Willoughby and La Brea.
That one is technically just outside the WeHo border. About a block of away.
You are correct ! The southern boundary of West Hollywood (at the furthest East) ends at Romaine and La Brea not Willoughby as I thought. Thanks for the correction.
Ridiculous camera work on this video. Like a f’n merry-go-round making you dizzy. Please stop screaming “What’s left” over & over again. Or just delete this annoying video
It’s no secret that 24HR closing and the pandemic were a huge part of the area losing so many businesses. I don’t think John Reed will have the same level of foot traffic. Of course, Starbucks claimed they closed because West Hollywood and the area was unsafe. Sure we have our share of mentally ill and crazies but so do many other parts of the city here and in many other states. Starbucks should have hired more security and changed their store policies in this location. Remember how they suddenly said ANYONE could use their restrooms and just sit in… Read more »
