Utility crews worked throughout the night to repair a broken water main that left the La Cienega/Santa Monica Blvd. intersection closed to traffic for most of Tuesday. The road is patched and normal traffic flow has resumed.

Perhaps a focus on infrastructure over painted sidewalks?
That was also my thought. One would think that priorities of the physical city would be upper most in the minds of elected officials rather than co opting a launch pad for self aggrandizing schemes.
What a hassle it created too…
