‘Queers Bash Back’ flyers allegedly made by Antifa

The flyers saying “Queers Bash Back” that have popped up around West Hollywood are the work of Antifa, according to @wehounfiltered.

“So Antifa are hanging up signs in West Hollywood telling people in what is probably the most liberal city in the USA that gays fight back, umm okay guys,” @wehounfiltered said in their Instagram post. “#visitweho #iloveweho #westhollywood #weho #antifa

Antifa is a loosely organized political movement or ideology that claims to oppose fascism (Antifa =”anti-fascist”). Antifa followers include a wide range of progressive activists, anarchists, socialists, academics, LGBTQ+ rights advocates and many peaceful protesters, as well as some extremists and belligerents.

“They hang out in Portland too,” @nora_is_nora commented on the post. “I asked one why he didn’t go to Texas or Kansas to protest. 😂 would have made way more sense!”

“This is a direct threat of violence,” commented @freeweho. “How were people getting investigated for posting political cartoons and stickers during the covid hysteria in weho? But this goes unquestioned…”

Gay bashing was once a common occurrence in West Hollywood, but over the past 10 to 15 years it has become much rarer.

The Sheriff’s department recently arrested the suspect in a political assault that occurred when a left-wing protester struck a right-wing protester at WeHo’s Drag Story Hour in April.

Antifa isn’t that loosely organized, and it doesn’t have a lot of peaceful protesters. The ones who show up to their rallies, whether they know it or not, are human shields for the Black Bloc.

Typical precursor to introducing violent militants before overrunning a town. They’ve done it all over the country (with money from places like Soros- who do you think paid for their all-black clothes, professional printed signs.)
ANTIFA is a violent group of anarchist terrorists that believe in NO authority. Once they settle in they turn on the suckers that welcomed them in.

Quoting a single Instagram post as an authoritative source for the claim it was antifa that was behind the flyers is irresponsible. It is not journalism.

The flyer says “you are entering an antifa zone”, which was news to me and most residents..

He kind of brings up a good point. Just because it’s printed on the sign doesn’t mean it’s true. It could have been one of these conservatives that came in from the Midwest for the prayer/protest at Dodgers Stadium, and they’re trying to stir up trouble. It could also be a wannabe Antifa person, and there are many on Twitter.

WHAT????? The majority of people at the prayer protest were latino Californians. Get your facts straight!

The only way we achieved various civil rights was by “bashing back”. Those who think they can beat us down need to be reminded that we will fight back.

I think that is partly true, but mostly a myth. Real progress was made in the LGBTQ+ community by average folks just being who they are in normal situations. It transforms stereotypes, existing in people’s minds, into real people who deserve respect. Don’t listen to the professional gays.

Self defense should be a community value. But in 2023, the countdown to being labeled a bigot starts as soon as the conversation begins. Five minutes is all you’ve got to make your case!

Antifa’s controversial poster campaign takes aim at imaginary bigots in West Hollywood’s hyper-liberal community, dragging resident along a dizzying ride through the blurred lines between activism, paranoia, and the pursuit of absolute tolerance. Yet behind all this aggressive posturing is the inevitable clash between ideology and reality in one of America’s most progressive enclaves.

This conjecture relies on a naive imposition of thought that allows residency only in one of two toxic idealogical extremes. Increasingly, if one does not submit to the Marxist rhetoric that has infiltrated the alphabet soup narrative, one is branded as a right-winger, MAGA, or worse. The forced teaming into one “community” is a fool’s folly. Those who presume to speak for a broader (non-existent) community are on an unappointed power trip of immense ego.

I used to visit & comment on WeHoville quite often but find that all of the pop ups drive me crazy! It’s much too much for me with the explosion of ads everywhere as I am trying to read the articles. Instead of reading them all the way through, I find that I have to navigate where I left off when I get bumped & forced into an ad. I will be on here less & less because I feel very bombarded.

Buying or investing in a subscription should eliminate the annoyances, but I use Adblock Plus, which blocks virtually everything. For free.

Antifa does tons of great work from coast to coast, ferreting out far right fascists and hatemongers that no one else – especially the police – refuse to touch.

The flyer here locally clearly says “Queers Bash BACK.” A physical response to a hate crime assault being interpreted as “anarchy” would be a ridiculous assessment. Surely that’s not what you meant. You don’t start none, won’t be none. I believe that’s the takeaway here, nothing more. So I don’t see a problem with that, regardless of the source.

These groups for all their good intensions are highly vulnerable to infiltration and misdirection and becoming little more than jackboots of color revolution: wrapping domestic security goals in the language of democracy promotion, and then confusing democracy promotion with particular political outcomes that enhance those security goals.

There’s not a single good intention behind Antifa, they were established in Weimar Germany and spread from there courtesy of the Cheka/NKVD/KGB.

Yeah an imaginary anti fascist organization is “dangerous”. But a very real pro fascist movement like Maga is just fine.

By now many people are weary of the arbitrary definitions of words like bigot or racist or whatever-phobe. The last few years, it’s been hard to keep up. What group or belief system is in open season now?

Wehoville is now mostly a rant zone for the aging and grouchy straights of WeHo and the MAGA conservatives of neighboring Beverly Hills. So of course they hate this, anything Antifa is like a catnip punching bag for these kooks

Ah yes, we can always rely on name-calling and applying such labels to those with whom we disagree, in even the slightest way. It’s almost Pavlovian at this point, and almost always done while ensconced in anonymity.

None, but that is not the issue. I suspect these flyers are in support of Mayor Shyne’s efforts to turn a person who assaulted an anti-gay demonstrator at the April Drag Queen Story Hour into a martyr. This person was identified at Pride and arrested by the Sheriff and the Mayor views the criminal as a “victim”. There are plenty of things people say on this site that piss me off, but that does not give me the right to physically assault them; the First Amendment needs to be respected, most of all in a progressive City like West Hollywood.… Read more »
