La Boheme owner Lucian Tudor eviscerated City Council for their dereliction of duty regarding public safety. Tudor organized a small protest at City Council’s meeting Monday, speaking during public comment and to the press beforehand.
“So people are afraid to come to work,” Tudor said. “People are not safe to come here to eat. We have been here for 32 years. We have people who used to come every day for 32 years. They are not safe on walking the streets of West Hollywood. They are breaking into their own homes. We’ve been to the council expressing our concerns of the lack of safety and today’s challenges as a business. I didn’t have any response from Council Members, not even an email. So no response.”
He had some advice to his fellow WeHoans.
“Start speaking louder. This is not okay. This is not safe. It seems for our politicians, it’s safe because they’re running for Congress. They don’t care about what’s happening over here. They just need to do political agendas. We need change. We need to be safe. Come to the city council. I’m gonna be there every time from now on and speak loud your concerns.”
Some businesses in WeHo already know it’s not 100% safe to do business in the city and they have created budgets to hire security staff to help make their business safer. Maybe it’s time for other business to take up the same model and hire security staff to help deter crime from their establishment instead of relying on the sheriff 100% of the time.
Sorry to disagree with you but this appears to introduce the concept of residents to hire a personal security guards. Throughout history albeit, with flaws, a sheriff/police force was up to the job. Personal entitlement legal or illegal seems a main ingredient in the current climate barring mental defect. Lack of personal respect and self control fueled by grievance & anger have exacerbated a tenuous balance.
You’re more than welcome to disagree but please try making sense when you do. There is a difference between being a resident and being a business owner.
Apparently that comment went over your head. Please read it again.
This guy this guy should not run a restaurant in an urban environment. Can’t handle what that entails. BTW, why are the still allowed to use their parking lot for dining?
Ugh! Here you are again with nonsensical snarky comments. Lucian is a respected and responsible owner.
I plan times when I’ll be out in WeHo. I scan the environment. Forget going to the 7 eleven unless you feel game.
What the hell happened. Ever since certain rallies in the area and COVID it’s become a popular spot for criminals.
Crime has spread from Melrose up Fairfax to WeHo proper. I just see it getting worse.
West Hollywood has lost its charm.
Crime rates are no higher than before the pandemic. Know the facts,
Believe everything you read, Kevin.
We should hold rallies at La Boheme to vote WeHo City Council OUT! I’ve lived in WeHo since the 90s. It’s the worst I’ve ever seen. 3 cars broken into outside of my building last night. The police said it was all over the neighborhood.
I’ve seen more broken windows. Not for theft either just targeting expensive vehicles.
Lucian and his team have articulated an inflection point in the failure of West Hollywood leaders and law enforcement to insist on a safe city. The city leaders give lip service but none of the city council members are practically minded nor do they appear to have a realistic sense of urgency, plan or direction. They need to act as though THEIR. LIVES depend on a safe city. Lucien and his well qualified staff have articulated the Issues. Now is time for the city council to act with a strong sense urgency and not politic their way around practical solutions.
Yes, we can hold it in his patio, I mean his parking lot.
The few people who actually vote in our elections care about one thing only: cheap undermarket rent. Does anyone seriously think the eastsiders, who are the biggest voting block, care about crime a mile away at restaurants they can’t afford? That is why the Marxists stay in office. Oh they can act concerned, but all they care about is getting reelected by pandering to the freeloaders. Lindsey Horvath ruined the city.
I’m starting to get worried about you. You’re not even making sense with your comments anymore.
As usual, you lob vague insults without giving any clue what it is you’re referring to.
You spend a lot of time worrying about other people. Do you even have a life outside city hall?
And btw La Boheme is not that insanely expensive. It’s a moderately priced restaurant that people renting a $2000+ apartment can afford. Do you even go out at all?
Same people will pay the price from today, businesses will raise prices even more because of unreasonable minimum wage
We should buy solar homeless to New York with a bag full of tokens. They could live in the subway, and no one would even notice a few thousand more..
If I had to risk being robbed by someone w/an AK-47 at work I would not go to my job either!
West Hollywood is not part of the “inside safe program by Karen Bass,so now we will see if weho continues to fight the homeless against the residents and businesses owners !
You voted for this crap! Defund the police. How’s that working for everyone? Quality of life crimes are not prosecuted, etc. Keep voting for the democrats and then complain things are not safe. If you can’t see the correlation then you must be willfully ignorant. Wake up! Not woke up!
Liberalism gone mad.
I’m afraid that in order to clean up our city we must first clean out the City Council.
Lye works well as a cleaner.
I had a chance to talk to this lovely man last night at the council meeting. His anguish at what is going on in the city is real! He is as disappointed with our city Council, as I am… In fact, even more so. I am only fighting for the safety of pedestrians from scooters. This man is fighting for the safety of his patrons, his staff, and himself. His beautiful restaurant could go under because of the lack of concern and attention from the city. But sadly his pleas are falling on deaf ears! Listening to him was heartbreaking.… Read more »
Running for Congress and running away from local municipal service for which they were elected. Lindsey Horvath perfected this strategy and as much as shed connections with West Hollywood while claiming to have solved many issues, top most public safety and homelessness. Horvath’s diversionary tactic using Nika Siong Soon in a quid pro quo for LA Times endorsement offered nothing to WeHo. West Hollywood was stricken from her resume, just like her alleged occupations. BTW Siong-Soon’s Wikipedia states “American activist who served as a Public Safety Commissioner of West Hollywood from Sept. 13, 2021 to Oct. 11, 2022”. Horvath addressed… Read more »
Big applause to Mr Tudor!
