NEW RESTAURANTS: My Lai Kitchen

My Lai Kitchen, a popular Vietnamese franchise known for its customizable bowls and banh mi sandwiches, is set to open a location in West Hollywood at 7501 Sunset Blvd. this weekend.

The restaurant will be hosting a special event from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday, July 8 at the new location, featuring complimentary Banh Mi sandwiches, limited-edition t-shirts, and gift card raffles.

The company currently operates its flagship restaurant in Mar Vista and a second take-out location in Mid-City.

expressed excitement about the expansion, particularly in West Hollywood, a vibrant food hub. In a statement, she stated,

“We are thrilled to expand our operations to West Hollywood, which is a cultural food hotspot,” founder Traci Phan Davis said. “I’m excited to share our passion and build strong ties with the community through our unique food experiences.”

My Lai Kitchen was founded by Phan and her husband Shad Davis. Traci, a first-generation Vietnamese American, grew up in a close-knit family where food played a central role in fostering connections. Recognizing a gap in the fast-casual market for Vietnamese flavors and healthy ingredients, Traci, with the support of Shad, an accomplished chef and restaurant consultant, brought her vision to life.

It is odd. Why does Wehoville report this as West Hollywood? (Seriously can the editors explain?) I wish them well but let’s face it this part of Los Angeles isn’t known for craving unique cuisine. Over and over folks have tried to make ‘fetch’ happen on that corner with no success. And you don’t see Grubhub delivering much ethnic food in the area unless you count Chipotle and Lucifer’s as ethnic.
