Acclaimed chef Josiah Citrin, known for his highly-regarded restaurants Mélisse and Citrin, is embarking on an exciting new venture. Following the success of his Venice-based steakhouse Charcoal, Citrin has opened a second location on the bustling Sunset Strip.
The new Charcoal Sunset location features a spacious interior with seating for 230 guests, a street-level patio, and a stylish wraparound cocktail bar.
The restaurant’s menu showcases bold flavors such as smoky grilled chicken wings, coal-roasted shishito peppers, ahi tuna tartare, 21-day-aged duck, a generous pre-sliced Angus porterhouse steak, Dungeness crab squid ink pasta and lamb sugo with fresh pappardelle.
The Sunset Strip has long been a popular destination for steakhouse enthusiasts, with notable establishments such as Boa drawing a loyal following. Both Mélisse and Boa have recently been recognized as top-grossing restaurants in the country.
While Mélisse and Citrin’s namesake restaurant offer refined French cuisine, Charcoal has always embraced a more approachable and family-friendly concept.
Charcoal Sunset marks another milestone in Citrin’s culinary journey. Recent ventures include collaborations with Hans and Patti Rockenwagner on the acclaimed Dear John’s in Culver City and the establishment of Dear Jane’s in Marina del Rey. Citrin also opened Augie’s on Main, a heartfelt tribute to his late son, offering a menu featuring b: ckyard-style burgers and roasted chicken plates.
Charcoal Sunset officially opened its doors on July 11 and serves patrons from Tuesday to Sunday, 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m., with plans for expanded seven-day service in the future. Located at 9000 Sunset Boulevard, West Hollywood, CA 90069, reservations can be made through Resy, allowing diners to secure a spot at this exciting new culinary destination.
Well, damn! Another restaurant opening in failing WeHo.
WHY???
Must be the fact that we have the highest minimum wage in the country.
Can’t wait to see the prices! Between the highest hourly wage in the nation, one of the highest sales tax in the state and the sky high rents of Sunset Boulevard, I’m sure most of us won’t be able to afford to eat at this place.
Charcoal Sunset has a menu online and, their quality appears to exceed what’s expected from “fine” Beverly Hells restaurants at far more reasonable prices. Professional well paid employees are a valuable asset for the Great City of West Hollywood❗
JF1/Enough!,
Do you ever have anything positive to say? Or is it all gloom and doom/the sky is falling everyday?
The sky is falling every day and many people do not ever have anything positive to say on this website.
Projecting?
I am not.
I post many positive comments on a regular basis.
Why do you say that I am?
Get over yourself 🙄
WOW, I really like the pre-sliced Angus porterhouse steak, it’s exactly how we make it in my family for babies👶🏽❗
Welcome Josiah. Thanks for investing in our city.
