A 37-year-old man has been charged with drugging and sexually assaulting five young women in Los Angeles and West Hollywood, Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón and Sheriff Robert Luna announced Friday.
Andrey Thanh Nguyen — also known as “Cosmo” — has pleaded not guilty to seven counts of rape by use of drugs, three counts of sexual penetration by anesthesia or controlled substance and one count each of forcible rape, oral copulation by anesthesia or controlled substance, sexual battery and sale/transportation/offer to sell a controlled substance, according to the District Attorney’s Office.
The charges stem from alleged attacks on five women between the ages of 18 and 21 in 2021 and 2023, according to the District Attorney’s Office.
Nguyen was arrested Wednesday by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Surveillance/Apprehension Team, and he has remained behind bars since then, jail records show.
“The violence and trauma that the five survivors in this case endured is abhorrent and will not be tolerated,” Gascón said in a statement announcing the case.
Authorities asked anyone with information about the case or any other alleged additional victims to contact the sheriff’s Special Victims Bureau at 877-710-5273 or by email at specialvictimsbureau@lasd.org, or to call Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS, or use the website, www.lacrimestoppers.org.
This is the result of the changes made to Weho post pandemic, now the block resembles the Vegas strip
Families, straight couples now account for 50% of the public on the strip and in the gay bars.
Gay and Lesbian establishments are disappearing…
Sadly, rape and assault in West Hollywood know no boundaries. Many of the WEHO rape and assault victims are LGBTQ + including homosexual domestic partner violence and date rapes. Your rant is a strange form of victim shaming that avoids the real issue of aggressive predators. Rape isn’t a straight people problem and it’s been a long standing WEHO issue including spikes in assaults during Pride and Halloween Carnival. This isn’t a straight vs. gay issue.
West Hollywood has a standing invite out to these type of folks. Bodies, we’ll take them from anywhere”
I’m so gloriously old that I remember the days when you could go to West Hollywood and meet nothing but gorgeous, hunky men who look like they just jumped out of a Calvin Klein ad or the cover of “Muscle & Fitness.” Those were the days! And don’t even get me started on the Utopia that was the steam room at the 24-Hour Fitness!
As a Happily Married gay man who resides in West Hollywood along with my husband and our fur baby (aka dog). It will be amazing one day to authentically be able to separate ourselves from the hedonistic rhetoric that is considered the “typical gay lifestyle.” Monogamy and traditional values within a relationship are not exclusive to heterosexuality. And that’s coming from a millennial who’s been legally married for now 10 years.
I’m sure Gascon will let him out soon enough.
